[NFT GIVEAWAY] Until 1924 only a single gram of pure indium had been mined - The Periodic Elements NFT

Indium is the chemical element with atomic number 49 and its symbol is In.

Indium was discovered by Ferdinand Reich and Theodor Richter in 1863 while they were looking for thallium in some zinc ores with a spectrograph. Richter managed to isolate the pure metal in 1867.

Until 1924 only a single gram of pure indium had been mined on the entire planet. The Earth is estimated to contain about 0.1 ppm of indium, which therefore has the same abundance as silver.

Indium is a very soft, silvery-white, bright and shiny metal. Like tin, indium also makes a high-pitched screech when metal indium bars are bent. Like gallium, indium is also capable of wetting glass.

Indium is mainly produced from residues from zinc ore processing, but can also be found in iron, lead and copper ores. The quantity of indium consumed annually is mainly a function of the world production of LCD screens; an increase in manufacturing and recycling efficiency, especially in Japan, maintain a balance between market supply and demand: the average price of indium in 2000 for the United States was $ 188 per kilogram.

The first large-scale application of India was to coat the bushings of fighter aircraft engines during World War II. Production thereafter gradually increased as new uses were found in casting alloys, soldering and electronics.
From the second half of the 1980s onwards, the development of indium phosphide semiconductors and tin-doped indium oxide thin films for liquid crystal panels (LCDs) attracted increasing interest.
Other uses of indium are:

  • In low melting point alloys. An alloy of 24% indium and 76% gallium is liquid at room temperature.
  • For photoconductors, germanium transistors, rectifiers and thermistors.
  • As a coating for other metals and for glass, on which it creates a mirror of equal quality to those of silver but more resistant to corrosion.
  • Indium oxide is used in the manufacture of electroluminescent panels.
  • Indium-111 is a gamma-emitter and is used in nuclear medicine for example for the diagnosis of neuroendocrine tumors.

The giveaway

As we wrote in the previous update, we were absent for a few days. Now we are back and we want to do it on tiptoe.

For this reason we do not want to introduce news in the giveaway but to keep ourselves in the same way as the last giveaway launched.

This element has a max supply of 200 NTFs and 111 are dedicated to the giveaway, divided as follows:

  • 31 NFTs will be assigned to the fastest users to comment on this article with their wax address
  • 80 NFTs will be assigned with an extraction among all the others who will comment on the article with their wax address by May 21 at 16:00 CEST

We remind you of 1 user - 1 wallet

Before the end of this giveaway, there will be draws and distribution of the giveaways still queued.

The Periodic Table NFT project

The Periodic Table NFT project aims to raise awareness of chemical elements in a modern key, basing the approach on blockchain and Non Fungible Token.
Day after day it will be possible to know the single elements that make up the table, to collect curiosities about each of them and about the table in general.
We are working to be able to learn, in a playful way, also what happens by combining the various elements.
The whole project is based on the collection of NFTs that can be bought on the site https://wax.atomichub.io/market?collection_name=periodicelem&order=desc&sort=created&symbol=WAX or by participating in simple giveaways published on publish0x.

Periodic Table Of Elements - NFT

The periodic table, also known as the periodic table of elements, is a tabular display of the chemical elements, which are arranged by atomic number, electron configuration, and recurring chemical properties. Each of us has a good memory of the school period. The periodic table of the elements was certainly a part of our journey. The time has come to retrace each element and collect the most exciting ones.
