[NFT GIVEAWAY] Palladium will be the right element to save Iron Man - The Periodic Elements NFT

Palladium is the chemical element with atomic number 46 and its symbol is Pd.

It is a rare metal, with a silvery-white appearance, of the platinum group to which it also chemically resembles: it is mainly extracted from some copper and nickel minerals.

It is soft and ductile after annealing, but greatly increases its strength and hardness if it is cold worked.

Palladium was discovered by William Hyde Wollaston in 1803 at the same time as rhodium. He named it in honor of the asteroid Pallas, discovered two years earlier.

Palladium chloride was prescribed in the past as a cure for tuberculosis in doses of 0.065 grams per day (about 1 mg per kg of body weight). This treatment had major side effects, so it was later replaced by more effective drugs.

Some uses of palladium:

  • white gold is an alloy of gold and palladium, in which the latter is added to discolour the gold;
  • like gold, palladium can be reduced to a leaf, with a thickness of up to 0.1 μm;
  • telecommunication switching systems use palladium;
  • it is also used in dentistry, as a component of some noble alloys used for making crowns and bridges, and in watchmaking;
  • for surgical instruments and electrical contacts;
  • as one of the elements for the creation of a glass with a high level of resistance;
  • in the construction of high-tech military armor (together with coltan and various alloys).

In recent cinematography, palladium is one of the elements used by Tony Stark in the film Iron Man to build the Arc reactor, a device capable of producing energy, to power an electromagnet, which keeps the metallic fragments of a bomb that hit him. The reactor also acts as an energy source for the mechanical armor that the film's protagonist creates and wears. However, over time, as can be seen in the movie Iron Man 2, palladium will poison Tony Stark himself, who will have to find an element that can replace it.

The Periodic Table NFT project

The Periodic Table NFT project aims to raise awareness of chemical elements in a modern key, basing the approach on blockchain and Non Fungible Token.
Day after day it will be possible to know the single elements that make up the table, to collect curiosities about each of them and about the table in general.
We are working to be able to learn, in a playful way, also what happens by combining the various elements.
The whole project is based on the collection of NFTs that can be bought on the site https://wax.atomichub.io/market?collection_name=periodicelem&order=desc&sort=created&symbol=WAX or by participating in simple giveaways published on publish0x.

Periodic Table Of Elements - NFT

The periodic table, also known as the periodic table of elements, is a tabular display of the chemical elements, which are arranged by atomic number, electron configuration, and recurring chemical properties. Each of us has a good memory of the school period. The periodic table of the elements was certainly a part of our journey. The time has come to retrace each element and collect the most exciting ones.
