The judge ruled today to make Apple have an alternative payment method in the Apple Store.
It opens a door for crypto adoption into Apple Store.
What happened to Epic Games vs. Apple?
Epic Games challenged Apple that 30% revenue sharing to Apple Store and Google Store forced the company to lose competition in the industry and argued that Apple monopoly forced companies to pay their preferred payment method.
What do Epic Games want?
They want Apple Store to lower 30% revenue sharing fees and let users have cheaper game products.
What Epic Games did to piss off the Apple?
Epic Games released hotfix and bypass Apple and Google payments and lower 20% of games costs. Apple and Google immediately removed their game from their stores.
What did the judge do?
The judge did not lower 30% of commission fees with Apple’s own payment method but ordered the Apple to open payment methods in their store.
What will happen?
The Apple will follow the court order to open payment methods. Google may likely follow the same action.
Crypto payment system
Apple or Google may follow to accept the crypto payment method if developers want to accept the method. Since the Apple is no longer able to force App developers to accept only Apple Pay, App developers will waive their own preferences to accept the cryptocurrency.
Apple or Google will be forced to accept crypto
If more App developers want crypto payment methods, Apple or Google may force hiring teams of crypto developers to accept crypto payment methods.
In conclusion
This is a beginning tech adoption of cryptocurrency as payment and it will speed up crypto adoption faster than anyone expected.
