The NFT supply of this giveaway is a much lower than the previous NFTs. For this reason the number of pieces available is less, but let's start talking about the element.
Promethium is the chemical element with atomic number 61. It is a synthetic element and its symbol is Pm. All of its isotopes are radioactive; it is one of the only two unstable elements that in the periodic table is followed by elements with stable shapes, a common feature with technetium.
In 1902, Bohuslav Brauner suggested that there was an element with intermediate properties between neodymium (60) and samarium (62); this was confirmed in 1914 by Henry Moseley who, after measuring the atomic numbers of all the elements then known, found there was no element with atomic number 61. The proof of the existence of promethium was obtained in 1945 by Jacob Marinsky, Lawrence Glendenin and Charles Coryell during the analysis of some by-products of uranium fission
Promethium is a soft metal. It is an artificial element that emits beta particles which can be used to stimulate the emission of X-rays by elements having a high atomic number.
Little is known about the properties of the metallic promethium. There are two allotropic forms and its salts show a blue-green luminescence in the dark due to their high radioactivity.
Uses of promethium include:
- beta radiation source for thickness measurements;
- light source for highly reliable signals (in which phosphor is used to absorb beta radiation and produce light);
- in nuclear batteries in which photocells convert light into electric current: this type of battery has a useful life of about five years using 147Pm;
- probably in the future it will be used as a portable source of X-rays and as an auxiliary source of heat or energy for satellites and space probes, and to build lasers to communicate with submarine submarines.
Promethium is not found naturally on Earth. Its spectral lines, however, have been identified in the light of some stars. Not isolated in nature, it was artificially produced in nuclear reactors, as a product of the fission of uranium, thorium and plutonium.
The giveaway
The ways to participate in the giveaway and receive an NFT of this element remain very simple: enter a comment in this article with your WAX address by Tuesday 25 at 16:00 CEST.
Among all valid comments 49 winners will be drawn who will receive this NFT for free with a max supply of 99. (1 user - 1 wallet - 1 NFT).
By the end of the month, after a long time, the laboratory for the creation of a new simple simple molecule will reopen .... Are you ready?
In a few days another initiative will be launched to enhance the collection. This is the time to invite all friends and acquaintances.
The Periodic Table of Elements NFT project
The Periodic Table NFT project aims to raise awareness of chemical elements in a modern key, basing the approach on blockchain and Non Fungible Token.
Day after day it will be possible to know the single elements that make up the table, to collect curiosities about each of them and about the table in general.
We are working to be able to learn, in a playful way, also what happens by combining the various elements.
The whole project is based on the collection of NFTs that can be bought on the site https://wax.atomichub.io/market?collection_name=periodicelem&order=desc&sort=created&symbol=WAX or by participating in simple giveaways published on publish0x.
