[NFT GIVEAWAY] Cesium for your atomic clock - The Periodic Elements NFT

[NFT GIVEAWAY] Cesium for your atomic clock - The Periodic Elements NFT

Cesium is the chemical element of atomic number 55 and its symbol is Cs.

This element starts a new period (row) in the Periodic Table: Period 6.

It is a silvery-gold alkali metal, soft and ductile, and melts slightly above room temperature. The most important use of cesium is in atomic clocks.

Caesium is also the most electropositive element of all and the one with the lowest ionisation potential; it is also the least common of all the alkali metals, not counting the very rare and radioactive francium.

Caesium can be found in liquid form at room temperature. Cesium reacts explosively in contact with cold water.

Caesium was discovered spectroscopically by Robert Bunsen and Gustav Kirchhoff in 1860 in the mineral waters of Dürkheim, Germany. Cesium metal was first produced in 1881.

One of the richest and most important sources of caesium is located at Lake Bernic in Manitoba (Canada).

Its most common uses:

  • like other group 1 elements, caesium has a high affinity for oxygen and is used as a "getter" in vacuum tubes.
  • in photoelectric cells
  • radioactive cesium isotopes are used in medicine to treat certain types of cancer.
  • Caesium fluoride is widely used in organic chemistry as a base and as a source of anhydrous fluoride ions.
  • Cesium formate is used as a lubricant in rock drilling.
  • Cesium isotopes are used in atomic clocks.
  • this metal has also been used in astronautics for ion propulsion systems for space probes.
  • Caesium-137, in analogy to cobalt-60, has been used for sterilisation by irradiation of food or substances such as tobacco.

The giveaway

We are still here.

These last days of the year we want to greet them with a new giveaway of one of the longest running NFT collections on the WAX blockchain.

To receive a free NFT of element number 55 you need 3 small actions:

  • post a comment to this article
  • insert your WAX wallet in the comment
  • tag two friends in the comment (optional)

80 NFTs will be drawn to be awarded among all those who enter their comments before 22.00 CET on 2 January 2022 (1 user - 1 wallet).
The maximum supply of this element is 200 pieces.

The Periodic Table NFT project

The Periodic Table NFT project aims to raise awareness of chemical elements in a modern key, basing the approach on blockchain and Non Fungible Token.
Day after day it will be possible to know the single elements that make up the table, to collect curiosities about each of them and about the table in general.
We are working to be able to learn, in a playful way, also what happens by combining the various elements.
The whole project is based on the collection of NFTs that can be bought on the site https://wax.atomichub.io/market?collection_name=periodicelem&order=desc&sort=created&symbol=WAX or by participating in simple giveaways published on publish0x.

The periodic table, also known as the periodic table of elements, is a tabular display of the chemical elements, which are arranged by atomic number, electron configuration, and recurring chemical properties. Each of us has a good memory of the school period. The periodic table of the elements was certainly a part of our journey. The time has come to retrace each element and collect the most exciting ones.
