Time: Your Best Asset

“Time is the currency of your life. It is the only currency you own and only you can determine how it should be spent. Be careful and don't let other people spend it for you” | Carl Sandburg

Time: Your Best Asset, let us dive in here a bit more into why time is your most precious resource. None of this is possible without understanding that time is your most precious resource. If you are sick and tired of losing valuable time, you must safeguard it at all costs. It does not matter whether your time is taken by work or taking care of family; the fact is, the decision on how you spend it is strictly yours.

Doing this will prevent your team members from becoming reliant on you, and will enable you to more effectively utilize your time. Another tactic is to set up an allotted time every week or month that you will devote to helping others outside of your team.

“Every day is a bank account and time is our currency. Nobody is rich, nobody is poor, we each have 24 hours” | Christopher Rice

Otherwise, it is never going to be over, and meetings just cut your time away from other needed tasks. You could still say yes to that, but if the allotted time is over in the following month, then just say yes, but plan your meetings for next month. Do not be afraid to let the people at your meeting know there are 10 minutes left on the time you have allocated, so that you can finish things.

With every request to meet, I had to pause and ask if this was a good use of my time. There is a routine I have developed that I stick with pretty much every day, so that when it comes to how to allocate my time, there is no guesswork involved. I actually take pains to make a list of all of my daily tasks and how much time they take and am surprised at how little time is left in the day.

“Time is free, it has no price. You can't own it, but you can use it. You can't keep it, but you can spend it. Once you've lost it, you can never get it back" | Harvey MacKay

Time is something that we cannot take back, and yet we still go about spending our hours like it is a free resource. Time is the one thing in life that you cannot ever get back once it is gone. No one can tell you how much time you have left, but it is a finite amount.

Get things done ASAP, and then make them better, if the time allows. That way, you will work on the most pressing tasks first, and you will have plenty of time left over for finishing up other tasks. Once you identify your priorities, then you can plan out how you would like to spend your time.

“The main problem with this great obsession with saving time is very simple: you cannot save time. You can only spend it. But you can spend it wisely or foolishly” | Benjamin Hoff

The only way that you are going to protect your time, you need to first figure out how you want to spend it. Distribute your time well, and you will see that every aspect of your life improves. It is crucial that you get the balance right in terms of where to put time into work, your family, or yourself, and this is true for you as well as your health in many ways.

I am very passionate about writing, and one day, I believe that time-to-earnings equation is going to shift. If one day I decide that I would prefer to spend my time going to the beach, I am not going to be paid for it (and probably fired). I am trying to spend my time and my money on building a foundation of businesses that generate passive income.
