"We humans have a love-hate relationship with our technology. We love every new advancement and we hate how fast our world is changing. Robots truly express that love-hate relationship we have with technology" | Daniel H Wilson
As I refer to in another article - Will artificial intelligences be the masters of the known world? -, I am a convinced defender of new information and communication technologies (ICTs) - NOT AN IRRATIONAL FAN -, the "evil" of technologies are the result of misuse that we give as humans, unfortunately and paraphrasing Lord Byron "The more I know men, I love my dog more".

"The day artificial intelligence is fully developed could mean the end of the human race. It will work on its own and redesign itself faster and faster. Humans, limited by slow biological evolution, will not be able to compete with it and will be exceeded" | Stephen Hawking
It is a bit of an irony that I, Robot by Asimov seems to prove that First Law and Second Law cannot protect certain people. His Three Laws of Robotics were designed to protect humans from interaction with robots. The Three Laws of Robotics were designed to provide an interesting plot point, and Asimov went on to produce a number of 37 short stories in Science Fiction, as well as six novels, which featured the use of positronic robots.
"We must individually and collectively address the moral and ethical questions raised by cutting-edge research in artificial intelligence and biotechnology, which will enable the spread of new forms of life, such as designer babies and memory extraction" | klaus schwab
To fully understand the significance of The Three Laws of Robotics, first, we need to know the brilliant mind who came up with the laws, the late sci-fi writer Isaac Asimov. Robots in science fiction stories by Isaac Asimov, called robots of Asenion, are not capable of deliberately breaking the three laws, but essentially, robots, whether they are in SF or in the real world, can be abotsa. Science fiction writer Isaac Asimov has added the 0th Law at one time--so named in order to continue a pattern of smaller-numbered laws overriding larger-numbered laws--which states that robots should not cause harm to mankind.

"The real question is: when will we come up with a list of AI rights? What will it consist of? Who is going to design them? | Gray Scott
Interpretation anticipated the introduction of the Zeroth Law by science fiction author Isaac Asimov, which could override Asimovs three laws on robotics, potentially allowing robots to hurt humans in order to benefit mankind. David Brin has gone so far as to depict R. Daneel Olivaws concern that, should robots keep reproducing on their own, the Three Laws will be a hindrance to evolution, with natural selection wiping out the Laws--science fiction author Isaac Asimovs cautious groundwork being eroded by evolutionary calculations. Isaac Asimovs robots were much more advanced than you find today, but the laws are an intriguing concept. If there comes a day where we get sentient, sentient robots, you can bet that Asimovs laws will be among the first to go.
"Instead of trying to imitate what we are good at, I think it is much more fascinating to investigate what we do poorly at, it is foolish to use machines to imitate human beings, while machines are really good at being machines, and this is something that human beings are bad at" | Edger Dijkstra
The second law says a robot must be submissive to humans, so long as this does not contradict Law Number One. A robot has to follow orders given it by human beings, except in cases where those orders would contradict the first law. The Law says this, Law Number One says a robot cannot cause a harm to a person, nor allow a person to come to harm through inaction. A robot should defend its own existence, so long as such defense does not contradict either the first or second law.

The Second Law is that the robot shall follow all instructions given to it by humans, while the Third Law is that a robot must avoid actions or situations which would harm itself. For example, if a human ordered the robot to attack another person, it will refuse to obey (First Law takes precedence over Second Law), but if the human ordered it to disassemble itself, it will obey (First Law takes precedence over Third).
"The biggest problem is who owns the technology. If only a minority of people have control of robots in the economy, then only the minority will benefit and the majority will be displaced...Robotics presents a problem of a distribution of power that could make things worse" | Paul O'Dowd
