Security research firm Cybereason has discovered a new kind of Trojan for Android, which has been targeting the banking and money-transfer apps for Android. A new strain of Android malware, has been detected in the wild, targeting customers of online banks and cryptocurrency wallets in Spain and Italy, weeks after the FluBot was taken down by a coordinated effort by law enforcement agencies. The security of dozens of Android apps has been compromised, with the discovery of a new strain of malware.

Doctor Web has warned about the proliferation of Trojan apps designed to steal cryptocurrency from users mobile devices. The godfather displays a phony version of a popular financial and cryptocurrency application on the affected mobile devices. The malware scheme targets mobile devices using either the Android or Apple (iOS) operating systems, which are compromised when a user downloads a fake application.
Depending on the device type the user visits malicious websites, he/she is presented with an invitation to download and install the cryptocurrency wallet application of a respective platform, that is, Android or Apple. On Android, it appears to be targeting new crypto users who do not have a legit wallet application installed on their device. On Android, it targets new cryptocurrencies the user might not have traded before, urging the user to install an appropriate wallet.
If an attacker gains access to the seed phrase, he or she may be able to access cryptocurrency stored on a crypto wallet and steal it. Using these two keys, users of the cryptocurrency wallet are able to engage in transactions without jeopardizing the integrity of the currency being traded, or of the transaction itself. Cryptocurrency owners store their money in a virtual Wallet, which is safely encrypted using private keys.

Most non-custodial wallets (wallets you fully control) offer software downloads you can use to protect your private keys and cryptocurrency assets. Users can access the hot wallets on a phone or a desktop to keep track of their coins and exchange. If you are looking to invest in bitcoin or another cryptocurrency such as Ethereum or Litecoin, you will want to choose an investing app that allows you to purchase the cryptocurrency (Coinbase, SoFi, Webull, Kraken, and Robinhood allow cryptocurrency trading) and also pick up a Wallet to store and protect the private key code to access your assets.
The Blackmoon Banking Trojan targets banking credentials of Android users, and it is capable of bypassing 2FA (double factor authentication). Using a new infrastructure to avoid detection, the Blackmoon Banking Trojan has been observed targeting users in South Korea lately. Dubbed the GodFather by the group-IB, the GodFather has targeted users at more than 400 banks across 16 countries.
GodFather is a new Android banking Trojan currently targeting unwitting users of more than 400 banking, cryptocurrency wallet, and exchange apps around the world. The confirmed infections include 215 banking apps, 94 cryptocurrency wallets, and 110 cryptocurrency exchange platforms.
Coin-tracking apps like CoinGecko, CoinMarketCap, and Blockfolio were also targeted, along with at least a dozen different cryptocurrency wallets built on the phone. Googles Android phones, for example, are vulnerable to Trojan Horse cryptocurrencyjacking attacks via apps in the Google Play store.
