Greeting and salutations Crypto Friends,
We hope you are enjoying the new addition to your collection, Dogecoin the Playful, and thank you very much once more for the outstanding support! The Happy Crypto Family is slowly growing bigger, and we can't wait to see what the future unfolds.
We are halfway through exams and team projects, but somehow, we managed to make it through! Please bear with us a little longer. Hopefully, we will score that perfect mark and enjoy a relaxing summer! On another note, we are about to hit the milestone of the first ten NFT coins we had in mind! Stay tuned, as something pretty cool might be dropping shortly!
So Friday today, folks, and we are back for our regular appointment!
The new member of the Happy Crypto Family that we will introduce today is Filecoin the Archiver!

Filecoin is a decentralised storage network designed to store humanity's most important information. We are all aware of the importance of data in our modern world and how much information is nowadays.
Filecoin was created by Juan Benet, founder of Protocol Labs, back in 2014, a very talented and highly experienced computer scientist dedicated to building the next generation of the internet through his company. He is also responsible for creating the Interplanetary File System, an open-source, peer-to-peer, decentralised web protocol for storing and sharing data in a distributed file system.
Although the project started in 2014, it has just recently started to operate with the launch of its mainnet in October 2020. During the ICO, Filecoin manage to raise over 200 million dollars in only 30 minutes!
Filecoin is indeed a decentralised data storage system meaning users don't need to trust their precious data and information in one company only. Unlike centralised cloud storage providers like Amazon Web Services or Cloudflare, Filecoin uses its decentralised nature to maintain the integrity of a data's location, making it easily retrievable and difficult to censor. Decentralised storage systems like Filecoin allow users to be their own data custodians while also making the internet more accessible to individuals all over the world.
Filecoin incentivises players to act honestly and save as much data as possible since participating in the Filecoin network by mining and storing is directly tied to receiving additional block rewards.
In the "war" our society is going through against unethical methods giant corporations use to manage and sell our data, Filecoin feels like an oasis in the desert and a preeminent project for the future to come.
