First of all, do you want to take advice from the inventor of a dead coin? Who may have tanked his own coin by dumping on holders at the top of the market?
You have to watch yourself when listening to crypto "experts," because experts in one thing aren't necessarily experts in another. Charlie Lee is smart enough to invent a crypto that was cool for a while. This does not qualify him in any way to comment on the financial state of a market. Folks defend his financial credentials saying that he called the top on his own Litecoin, selling at the height of its first run. No, he created that bear market because he was the biggest holder. Self-fulfilling prophecy.
What Lee called is a natural flow in any market. You see it on virtually every coin that launches on Dextools. There's an initial pump, then a big dump, then you get real price discovery after that. Zoom out, the same chart pattern applies to defi and the crypto market as a whole. Of course you're going to get an NFT dump at some point. Then the real price discovery begins.
Don't let Lee's prediction scare you away from NFT art. It's a natural progression in the movement of all finance to the digital space, and it's a necessary one. In one way or another, we're all moving into a space where we can be a part of the art market. Joining in this market at any level, as an artist or an investor, represents lifestyle improvement. Moving up Maslow's hierarchy into a place where you can spend time and money on things without an immediate utilitarian value. This is what all humans aspire to, so the NFT market literally can't fail.
As always, getting a good buy in point is essential, though. If you want to get into NFTs without buying the local top that may (or may not be) coming, you should get in now or wait until after Lee's crash.
