Justin Trudeau has been Prime Minister of Canada since November 2015 and leader of the Liberal Party since April, 2013. It's only been just over six years since he came to power. In his first 4 years, Trudeau was well liked and even de-criminalized marijuana and allowed for it to be sold legally across Canada. So far, so good!
After his first term, he was re-elected but this time with a minority government. This is when things start to get sketchy. He tried to push bills C-10 and C-36 through the house. These were strict censorship bills. These failed to become law because of opposition members voting against it. C-10 nearly made it which is really scary. Almost immediately after this, he called for a snap election last September, 2 years into his term.
Again, he only got a minority government but this time, as everyone can now see, the New Democratic Party (NDP and in third place in the house) under leader Jagmeet Singh, are siding with the Liberals to push through the use of the Emergencies act. The official opposition, the Conservative Party, along with the Bloc Quebecois and Green Parties are siding against this motion. Alas, it is not enough votes to stop this move by the Liberals and the NDP. Only dissent within these two parties can stop the motion from going to the Senate, which I doubt will happen.
Another thing I've discovered is that during his brief 6 year + tenure as Prime Minister, Trudeau has been quickly and stealthily filling up the senate with Liberal sympathizers. There are 105 seats in the Senate. When a bill has passed the House, it doesn't immediately become law. It must first go to the Senate where it will be debated and voted on. Only then will it be determined if a bill becomes law or not.
In just 6 years, Justin Trudeau has busily filled up the Senate by appointing a whopping 56 senators which is a majority in the Senate. On top of that, there are an additional 10 senators appointed by former Liberal Prime Ministers Paul Martin and Jean Chretien. That's 66 senators out of 105 that are Liberal Party sympathizers.
I don't recall any media outcry over this. One Prime Minister has appointed more than half the seats of the Senate and in just 6 years. In my own honest opinion, I believe that Prime Ministers should not have the unilateral right to place someone in the senate, which is a lifetime appointment, by the way. Senators should be voted in just like Prime Ministers are.
I just thought I'd point this out as members of the House vote on the Emergencies Act tonight (Monday, Feb. 21). We may wake up tomorrow in a full-blown dictatorship here in Canada. The World Economic Forum (WEF), a non-governmental association led by Klaus Schwab has openly stated that Justin Trudeau is one of HIS 'global leaders'.
What a lot of people don't know is that Deputy Prime Minister Christia Freeland is not only a member of the WEF but is also a member of the board of trustees! I can't help but wonder where her loyalties actually stand and also wonder how come there is no media outcry over her and Trudeau's connections to Schwab and the WEF?
