As a registered member of the PPC (People's Party of Canada), I naturally voted for Maxime Bernier's party in the last federal elections held in Canada last September which allowed Trudeau and his Liberals to be re-elected for a third time but with a second minority government. Canadians and the entire world have been watching closely as the trucker protest evolved in a peaceful manner. People danced on the streets and parents walked about with their children while the CBC (funded with our tax dollars), Global News and other mainstream news outlets painted and continue to paint the protest as violent.
I learned this morning that Parliament was shut down yesterday morning so police could 'do their thing'. I've already seen video of people being trampled by police on horseback, causing severe injury. The protests were peaceful, until the police showed up to enforce their crackdown of this legal demonstration. These police officers are definitely not siding with freedom and liberty.
While they should be debating this shameful move by Trudeau and the Liberals with help from the NDP (New Democratic Party - not new and not democratic) who are siding with the Libs. The NDP are in third place in the House of Commons and otherwise have no real power, except in situations like this where their votes could turn the tide one way or the other.
Well, the NDP have chosen to stand with tyranny and oppression and support Trudeau and his party with this unprecedented power grab. There was no invocation of the Emergencies Act when 9/11 happened or when a crazed gunman shot a soldier to death as he stood guard at the War Memorial and then stormed the Parliament building before being taken out, nor was the act invoked when native protesters blocked a railroad 2 years ago.
But when peaceful protesters demand their voices be heard and call for an end to all mandates, the Liberals AND the NDP are aligning to impose tyranny and oppression. As a member of the PPC, I regularly get email updates from the Party and from Maxime Bernier himself. I received an email from Maxime yesterday afternoon and it's titled, ' It's a dark day for Canada'. His message is re-printed below.
Thank you, Maxime Bernier for being a voice of the people, a voice of reason and for being a true statesman. Justin Trudeau (and NDP leader Jagmeet Singh) will never have the fine qualities you possess. Again, thank you. I stand with you and for freedom and democracy!

There is violence in the streets of Ottawa.
The police, armed with riot gear, are brutalizing and arresting peaceful demonstrators from the truckers’ convoy.
Meanwhile, Parliament is not sitting today because of this police operation. All parties agreed to stay away while the regime cracks down on dissidents.
Just like in a banana republic.
They should have been debating Trudeau’s decision to invoke the Emergencies Act.
The Emergencies Act replaced the War Measures Act in 1988. The only other times in Canadian history that it was invoked were during the First and Second World Wars, and during the October Crisis in 1970.
There is no emergency in Canada. No war, no insurrection, no terrorist attack, no sanitary or environmental catastrophe that justifies invoking this law.
It’s outright illegal, undemocratic, and unconstitutional for this government to give itself exceptional powers to deal with peaceful demonstrators.
It’s a power grab on Trudeau’s part to crush dissidence, that’s all it is.
Trudeau and his Finance minister Chrystia Freeland have given themselves the power to freeze the bank accounts not only of the organizers of the Freedom Convoy, but of anyone who is suspected of helping and funding them.
And we’re supposed to believe that a government that has violated our Constitution and our rights and freedoms for two year will not abuse these new powers?
Joseph, it’s a dark day for Canada.
But it’s not over. We will continue to fight this authoritarian government, and bring back freedom, respect and justice to this country.
