Since Elon Musk took over the regime at Twitter which now has the bizarre name "X" literally nothing has improved. Well, the opposite is actually the case as the experience with the app got worse in many different points.
Users still get shadowbanned, worse than before. The scam bots are still there, still as bad as before. Recently, scam ads have begun flourishing on "X". These ads in the timeline are difficult to recognize, making them dangerous for app users.
Here is one example of a scam ad on "X" that is all over my timeline.
First of all, it is very hard to recognize that this post in the timeline is actually an ad. If you look very closely, you can see a tiny hint in the upper right corner.
Let's check out the profile of the advertiser with the interesting name "karnatakaone kanakagiri". This stranger joined a few months ago and has only six followers, probably himself.
I find these scam ads all over my timeline. Here are some more examples of scammy "X" ads that I've just found like this one.
or this one from Patricia
or this one from "Student Eats Noodles".
To be very clear. There are no free NFTs to mint. These links are wallet drainers. If you connect your wallet to mint any of these scammy NFTs then your wallet with your hard-earned crypto will be emptied much faster than you can even look.
Another thing that I have noticed in my "X" timeline is that it is full of stuff that I am not interested in at all. I am on "X" for crypto only and I don't want to see dead corpses in my timeline. I am not interested in football, baseball, hip-hop, or American politics. I always give my feedback that I am not interested in these kinds of posts but it seems that the algorithm of "X" refuses to learn. I hope that this will change again soon so that I can enjoy more crypto content on "X", the main reason I am using this app.
Political propaganda and other unimportant posts in my timeline are surely annoying but surely not as dangerous as the wallet drainer ads on "X".
My Final Conclusion
These are just my observations of the "X"-App over the course of the past year. I hope that I can save at least a few users from clicking these scam apps. Please be cautious of fraudulent advertisements on the "X" application.
I would love to hear your thoughts. Have you noticed any improvements in the app since Elon Musk took over? Also, have you been seeing any scam ads in your timeline lately? Lastly, what are your thoughts on the new, bizarre name for Twitter? Please leave a comment and let me know!
