Hi I'm Byron from Canada, and I draw coffee ... cups. Lots and lots of Coffee Cups.
This is one of the first Coffee Art Cards created, back around the 2010 era.
Before I started to mint my artwork on the WAX blockchain, I had only drawn a few coffee cups. They were fun to draw of course, but they weren't a big seller because it used to be very hard to sell original artwork. Selling Digital Artwork on a crypto blockchain however ... that turned out to be easier than I ever could have hoped.
And crypto people like coffee almost as they like their bags, so I started to draw more and more creepy coffee cups, silly coffee cups, skull coffee cups and also coffee cups.
I've made WAX based Digital Art Collectible activities that involve finding and blending all the different coffee cups to get a big Coffee Creeps limited edition Digital Art Collectible.
Yesterday I did something I normally don't do. I drew a Creepy Coffee Cup for a member of the Horde that went to the Horde's House of Coffee on Ko-fi ... and bought 4 coffees!

So I drew this cup of coffee in a Twitch Livestream then minted it on WAX and sent him mint #1 while also trying to give away the other mints.
I took the line art drawing and added it to a background. I thought it looked pretty good so I sent it to the coffee buyer and will be airdropping it to those that left a comment on the image that I posted on the ko-fi website.
I could have left it at that and I'm sure everyone would be happy. But the thing is ... I now have this piece of art that will just sit here with the rest and take up space. What else can I do with it? Can I mail it to him so he can have it taking space in his home? Sure . . . but what about making it a redeemable?
Redeemables are the way of the future I think and I wrote a small article about it.
So I took the raw drawing and minted it as a 1 of 1 on the OwnByronsArt collection on WAX and sent it to the dude too. He doesn't quite know it yet but he now owns a redeemable Digital Art Collectible (NFT) and can redeem it for the physical artwork in the future.
There are so many reasons to do this and probably just as many reasons to not do it ... but I'll focus on the good reasons.
- Rewarding those that buy a Coffee makes me feel good and it shows the coffee buyer that I really really appreciate the contribution to the Horde
- The art can be used again and again later down the road.
- Making this a limited mint means that I can give some away and sell others if I choose.
- Making the art a redeemable will help me towards the goal of selling more and more art.
- I get to write an article about it.
So the art is minted as a 1 of 1 and sent to the coffee buyer to own, hold, sell, trade or whatever. In time he can redeem it and own it and hang the artwork in his home for all to see. I like the idea of mailing out all my artwork to fans around the world, so I'm going to be exploring this pathway for a while.
That said - if you want to order a custom piece of art or even just a sketch, reach out. Let me know. The holiday season is coming and everyone loves original hand drawn art. https://ko-fi.com/houseofthehorde
