Fallout 3: GOTY was released in 2008 but remain a great game to play ever since. The Bethesda team released expansions that is worth buying for each and every cent, and as Game of The Year it is one of the best games to receive this title.
If you ever come across a Fallout series fan you probably heard how they love it and reasons why it have been one of best games titles he have played, and that's no small feat in a trillion dollar industry that is ever changing and always facing new challenges. What you probably didn't heard though is why this game is so fascinating.

Despite the fact that it's franchise have evolved from a small 2d turn based strategy game to a 3d open world game with awesome mechanics and quest-line, it provides player freedom of choice, deep immersion and somewhat a mix of scary and funny moments.
Wan't to steal from a npc? Pickpocket it. If you don't like it, just kill it with your missile launcher, Railway Gun weapon or the infamous Rock-It-Lancher that can use any junk as ammo to be thrown on enemies or npc's. Send an entire city to the air by arming the bomb that is inactive at it's center and receive an apartment at Tempeny's Tower, or disarm it for good and receive a shack in Mega Town. Bored of doing quests? Just explore the open world as you which, go wherever you wan't and enjoy finding randomly triggered event's or remarkable locations on the map. Choose to be the good guy or the bad one, karma will have some impact in your game play. Find and join companions, as they can help you to fight, and also be able to equip them with gear you choose. Remember, save all .44 magnum rounds you can to to use with Lincoln's Repeater if you have a high small guns skill as it is one of coolest unique small guns weapon of the game and ammunition sometimes are hard to find and scarce, even tough it is easy to repair it. Also don't waste your stimpacks, as they are somewhat a precious resource, and can heal you in hard encounters.
There is also a number of factions you can find across the game, like brotherhood of steel, brotherhood outcasts, enclave, raiders, supermutants, slavers, abolitionists and many others.
The fact is, few games have the honor to receive the love that Fallout games receive from it's fans. It have a unique-themed universe, lore and the dev team put effort and attention to every detail in it.
There are also great mods available on websites like Nexus, like Alternate Start, that let you begin with a different background lore. This one i highly recommend to those whiling to start a new game from a completely different perspective, in a new place with ability to skip the vault start as it can feel a little long and boring for those who have already been through it multiple times.
Overall, the game is not a straight forward experience like many others, where you need to grind and complete stages and quests to be able to advance to next quest or unlock areas.
The down side of it, is that it have only single player mode, with no option to play multiplayer with friends.
It have been more than 15 years since it's release, but every now and then i miss playing it, so i re-install and go back to explore areas that i have missed before.
It can be played on full graphics with only 2GB RAM and 512MB VRAM, requiring only 7GB disk space.
You can check if your computer meet the required specs using this webpage.
Best of it is, you can buy this awesome game on steam for 75% discount today, less than 5 dollars with all it expansions included, or less than 2 dollar for the base game.
All i can say is, it a game worth playing, replaying and playing it again.
~! Good Game and Have Fun !~
