It is no surprise that companies like MasterCard have partnered up with Banks. According to CNBC Mastercard is looking forward to launching Crypto to the masses and making it easier for banks to be involved in Cryptocurrency.
Mastercard will act as a bridge between Banks and Paxos, a crypto trading platform that Paypal already uses, and the connection will be something like this

Cryptocurrencies have been a profitable asset to invest in and big companies find this as a way to exploit such an opportunity to gain profit.
