Silver at the local bank? Can it happen today?

By steverobert | wealth concepts | 14 Oct 2021

I have a small laundry service in an apartment that produces about $80 a month in quarters. It has been several years since I found a silver quarter in my batch of quarters. I still check and still hope that one slipped into the mix.

So today I went to the bank and I try to go in when I can. I made my deposit and look at the cash drawer behind the glass and saw a nice pile of large coins. Some of the edges were nice and silver and not the copper color of the others. I asked if they were dollar coins and asked if I could get them, The teller was more then happy to give me the oversize coins that are a pain to track and store for the bank.

4 1971 dollars about 40% silver or about $7 melt value.

I learned that you can still get silver from the bank when someone else drops it off. So spend a little time and get to know the tellers. At my bank they know me because I can bring my dog into the bank.  So today I spent $10 to get $6 in coins and 4-40% silver coins worth about $28.

Not bad for 5 minutes of time to walk in and keep people employed doing the work the bank wants me to take a photo with my phone and submit.

Check your coins and ask at the bank.68363ed6267f30c62d349453ff5cf2a7572e05d7b6fe4c40bb937650eda6b2ca.jpg
