When the doctor warns you that you'd better start moving regularly to postpone the potentially inevitable consequences of your injury, it sure takes even me out for a walk.
I'd like to say that I aim at going out every evening but I know that's unrealistic. There will be days when it's pouring withrain. Sometimes I'll go meet a friend after work, and then my house chores need to be finished. Or I'll have a migraine/seizure/anxiety/depression day(s), and the only thing I can and should do is to rest.
Setting up too ambitious goals is a recipe for disaster. Just like New Year's resolutions. Those life-changing goals that we claim we're going to achieve are simply too much to handle, even with the best of intentions.
So, to make the journey more plausible, I set the goal of going out on 4 days of the week. That's a pretty good start compared to my usual 1-2 times. I still have some suspicions that I'll start slacking off but shame and punishment will just make the situation worse. I don't know how to turn it into a more positive experience. Maybe a special reward for being active 4 times. And some bonus for more. Maybe Actifit will manage to keep up the inspiration.
