W okresie w którym przebywałem w Singapurze, w styczniu 2020 roku przypadał rok Szczura. Oczywiście zwierzęta przypisywane do konkretnych lat powtarzają się i jest ich tyle co miesięcy czyli 12.

Rok 2021 z kolei był rokiem bawoła, 2022 rokiem tygrysa, a następujący już za kilka dni 2023 roku będzie rokiem królika. Zwierzęta w kalendarzu chińskim zmieniają się co 12 lat i jest ich właśnie 12. A są to szczur, bawół, tygrys, królik, smok, wąż, koń, koza, małpa, kogut, pies, świnia. Przebywając w Malezji w George Town udało mi się uczestniczyć również w roku koguta.
Preparations in Singapore for this holiday are quite modest, but very fairy-tale and colorful. There is a lot of traffic on the street, but the crews preparing the city for the New Year festivities are working slowly and precisely, as they always and everywhere throughout Singapore.
Przygotowania w Singapurze do tego święta są dość skromne, ale za to bardzo bajkowe i kolorowe. Na ulicy panuje wzmożony ruch, ale ekipy przygotowujące miasto do święta Nowego Roku, działają powoli i precyzyjnie, tak jak zawsze i wszędzie w całym Singapurze.
