I was recently talking with a person over email, and in our conversation, they asked me if I see myself as either this or either that with regards to the content I produce here on Publish0x. And that is what inspired me to pen this post, sharing my thoughts on this topic.
Having a thing define you
There are a lot of content creators out there, whether it is here or on any other platform, that is known as the X Y Z person. And what I mean with that is they cover that content and that content alone. This can truly be a great thing for you. This means that as long as that thing you are related to is going you will have a constant influx of material for your content.
The drawback of this is that if you pick a too-small nice you can run out of content to create. This can, to be fair, also o be for another reason as well. That being perception. When you start creating content on a certain topic everything is new. This can lead to you writing and publishing content at a rapid pace. And you could also choose to cover multiple topics in one post. Instead of taking the time to make separate posts. These two things can lead you down the same road. And that is you find yourself writing content at a pace that exceeds the influx of topics to create new content. In short, you will run out of things to write about.
And if you happen to have both of those things happening at the same time. That usually spells a bad time coming for you.
So how can you deal with it if this is to ever happen to you? Well, one thing you can do is to look back at your older content, and see if there are posts where you covered multiple topics. You can then split those up into separate topics. Another thing you can do is to look for new angles or points of view on topics you already have covered. As an example, if I cover trading bitcoin as a topic. I could cover that from my own point of view, I could talk to and interview a daytrader, I could talk to a DEX and a CEX, or I could talk to a bitcoin miner. This way I can create a similar post over and over again, while still being able to keep it fresh.

The upside of this approach is that it is generally much easier to build an audience. Because if they see content from you, they know what to expect. The downside is it can be hard to define your own space within a topic. And competition tends to be abundant.
Covering everything
This is personally where I am leaning more towards. As I am still very new to all things crypto I want to experience as much of it as I can. Well, the good parts at least. I try and avoid the bad parts as much as I can. So this means for me that anything I come across and find interesting I see as fair gains for me to write about. This can be a new project I came across, a game I started playing, or just news in general that I find interesting.
As I said because I am new to the crypto space I find this approach to be ideal for me. But if you have been here for a much longer time you probably have figured out how it works and found your corner where you are comfortable. But until I find my own corner this is how I will continue to do things.
The upside here is you will more or less never run out of content or topics. well at least as long as your creativity keeps working and that writer's block keeps away. The drawback however is that it is much much harder to build an audience doing it this way. Usually, people want to get content on topics they are interested in. And if you cover a wide variety of topics it is very easy for people to not follow you. They might have liked one of your posts but the next 4 were on topics they hated or had 0 interest in. Then they will hit that unfollow button just as fast ad they hit it, to begin with.
So for me, I try and find inspiration everywhere. And it can be the smallest trivial thing that sparks my creativity and mind to start racing. Just like it did with this post.
What are your thoughts on the topic of creating content? How do you go about it? Which type of content creator do you fit in with, and d you feel my view of it matches yours?
I hope that you have found this post to be useful and hopefully to some help for you. =) If you did please consider following me, reading my other posts or why not do both. You can find them here and here.
