Solitary Bees were emerging from their cocoons and starting to stretch their wings, over the next few weeks they would go back and forth from flowers to their homes to build a place to raise their offspring.

Included in the cover is a picture of their homes I built using wood planks and a special wood working tool. After building dozens of them, they have a great place to add their pollen and mud they collect. Building cells to lay larva inside and repeat until the hole is completely filled.

I set up a microphone near the entrance to their homes and left it there for about 45 minutes. The Bees quickly got back to business after I got out of their way setting up the recorder. And buzzing can be heard as they fly up to their homes and go inside, shake off their pollen making a buzzing sound and then fly out to repeat the process. They will visit flowers dozens if not hundreds of times in a day traveling up to three hundred feet to find flowers they prefer. They will do this hard work for about two months and then leave it up to the offspring to grow and repeat the process the next year.

Building these homes for them has given them a place to live and in turn pollinate my fruit trees. My Blueberry bushes, and hopefully my new Cherry and Apple trees will greatly benefit from these pollinators.

I used a Olympus Voice Recorder model WS-852. The date of this recording was on March 13th 2020 started at 3:18PM EST. During the later afternoon the Bees are quite busy. Our early springs in North Georgia can still be chilly during the mornings and evenings. So the middle of the day the Bees get out and work hard.
