AI Art-The Reality Haters Hate

By TheRuneLion | Runesrealms | 15 Mar 2024

There are those who consider AI Art to be essentially 'Nothing' as 'The machine does it all'.
In one very small, quasi-accurate way, I concede that point to a small degree.
However, they're speaking from fathomless ignorance, so they do not really know what they are talking about.
The people saying this show only how deep and hard-set their ignorance and spitefulness is.

If you are one of such people reading this, you won't like where this goes.
That is not a warning. I do not give warnings.
I do not care about your 'triggers'...they're YOUR triggers and YOUR problem.
The above is merely a statement of fact akin to stating; 'water is wet'.

AI Art is up against the knee-jerk reactionary haters and such, just as was Photography when it first came about. As were Motion pictures in their times, CGI when it came along, etc..
At least this time around we don't have a bunch of delusional nitwits and charlatans capering around in robes while claiming; 'The devil gonna git'cha!!' regarding it.
That said, AI Art is here to stay, and it doesn't matter one bit if the hater-people accept that or not.
The same was true for photography, the printing press before it, and other innovations such as the telephone, tv, radio, electricity.

As to the Machine and the Human elements...
When one takes a picture...one is just pushing a button.
Click.
The camera does all of the work.
Painting, there you see much more Human involved, still...try doing anything painting-wise without the approriate brushes and other specialized tools of the trade.

Not that many finger-pantings in The Louvre`.

In AI Art, anyone can throw in a sentence and walk away with something probably decent...
...depending on many assorted variables.
But, the same is true for photography.
Pre-smartphones, there were the 'funsaver' cameras, and polaroid one-step cameras and such...all single button push, auto-success for the most part.
Point and shoot.
NO skill required.
AI Art goes deeper, just as Photography does.

There's a difference between dropping in a single casual sentence versus working with Prompts, structuring them, understanding how models and LoRA work, VAE, and what resources are compatible with what models and generators as well as their interactions.
Then you need to know what the difference between the various Generators is.
It is more complex than Photography, and demands skill, patience, knowledge and intelligence as does Photography.
Working ith Prompts?
Spelling matters, spacing matters, the difference between a semi-colon vs. a full-colon can change an entire prompt structure.
Words and numbers in prompts are the 'brushes' and 'pigments' we use, as well as the canvas, and we have to work within hard limits as to how big a Prompt can be while also keeping in mind that words at the beginning get more attention than those later in the Prompt.

An example Prompt;
(best quality:1.4),(beuatiful woman:1.4),(beautiful face:1.4),(curvy:0.5),(suit & tie:1.4).(blonde:1.4),(business office;1.4)

The one above has errors in it. and you might spot the most obvious depending on your knowledge of spelling, the others you won't even know exist unless you know something about Prompt structuring.
Now, I am NOT a professional, merely an interested and dedicated hobbyist at-present...but still, I know the tools well enough to know that the wealth of tools and opportunity in AI Art is without limit.

Now a word about Art itself.
The only defining characteristic of Art;
Is that it stirs a reaction, pleases the eye...that it has an Effect. It doesn't matter whether it's a picture from a cave painting, a camera, an old painting on canvas, or AI Generated.
If it pleases the eye, stirs a response within the viewer...then, it IS indeed Art.
That classification has held up across History and holds up as well and true now as it did in the most ancient times.
That's another point showing how insipid and asinine the haters of AI Art are.

Now, the claims of AI Art Generators 'stealing' pics...
The Samplers are limited exclusively to open-license and public domain pictures.
EG; I allow some of my images to be included in sampler sweeps of the web and I exclude others from such.
THAT is how it works, the Owner of the images has Full Control about whether an AI may, or may not, sample from them.
That's that.
It's that cut and dried.
I have works I Protect as they are Proprietary, such as Concept Art of Characters, Vehicles, Technology I'm developing for some of my books, so I have looked into this to be sure my works are indeed safe from AI Sampler sweeps of the web.

So there you have it, the entire breakdown of why the Haters of AI Art are so foolish that they deserve nothing more than to be pointed at and laughed about.
Yes, they are entitled to their opinions.
However, when they engage in attacking Artists and the community who use AI, that is something else entirely and they are NOT entitled to attack anyone no matter what their opinions might be.
Which is why I am making no effort to be 'Nice' here.
I have no patience, tolerance, forebearance for these ignorant, knee-jerk-know-nothing Haters who engage in constant harassment, attacks and slandering/libel of the AI Art Community.

A final word to you Haters;
Maybe instead of whinge-whining and pissing your pants in tantrums about AI Art and those of us engaged with it, you should try Creating something with it.
Maybe you have a character from a D&D game you created and you can work on modelling that character using AI help and finally be able to see YOUR Creation outside of your head. in front of your eyes.
Maybe you have a cool idea for a Concept Car...give it a try.

Creating is far more satisfying thatn Hating.

Just to say.
