The Dune airdrop for all Tezos Holders

By Allen Walters | Publish0x posts | 23 Aug 2019

Early September there will be an airdrop for all Tezos users by a separate project called “Dune Network”.

Dune Whitepaper:

“The Dune Network is a novel platform for distributed applications over a blockchain. Dune Network is not a hard-fork of the Tezos ledger. It started with its own genesis block on June 24, 2019, but uses an extended version of Tezos’ open-source software as a basis to create a new platform with a focus on the easy development of distributed application”

The Dune airdrop:

From the white paper: “At the beginning of September, an airdrop of Tezos accounts will be performed, to create an extended set of potential users, especially as Tezos owners have shown their interest in Dune’s technology.

The airdrop will be performed as follows:

• A snapshot of all Tezos accounts will be taken at block number 600 000 of the Tezos blockchain. This block is expected to be baked around Sep 7-8, 2019.

• A curation will be executed on the snapshot:

– All tokens held in originated accounts (KT-) will be moved to their associated manager account (tz-);

– All tokens held in accounts with a balance below 100 XTZ will be burnt;

– All tokens detained by the Tezos Foundation and associated parties will be burnt, to prevent malicious use;

• In the days after the snapshot, the accounts of the curated snapshot will be credited on Dune Network, and the commitments (Tezos ICO accounts not yet activated) will be injected too.

• All DUNs tokens not affected during the snapshot will be moved to specific contracts for the validator program. These contracts will not allow spending these tokens, so the tokens are considered burnt, and not taken into account in the computation of the circulating supply.  These tokens will be used for delegation to validators chosen by the Dune Foundation, to improve the stability and resilience of the network;

• Once the airdrop has been performed, a public announcement will be done, and the network will officially become public. This is done in order to not create unnecessary speculation on Tezos.”

The Dune Network will likely never be able to catch up with Tezos. Tezos has a large amount of developers (40+), is way ahead in development and is in the process of creating an enormous army of developers with their Tezos Blockstar Programme in collaboration with B9lab. 226 developers are in training at this moment. (500 people will be trained as Tezos developers in a 7 week course. Note for example that Litecoin has 5 developers and Bitcoin a little over 100) Tezos is seeing adoption in several forms of upcoming Dapps and over a billion of STO tokenization will take form soon on the Tezos chain. The Tezos community is huge and the Dune project is received with scepticism. But the Dune airdrop could even be a positive value movement for Tezos. If the Dune tokens will be listed on an exchange and be worth something, many of the Tezos holders have expressed their intentions of selling their Dune tokens and buy more Tezos tokens.
