What explorations would the community consider most valuable?
I’m doing this because I find the interconnection and recomposition principles of fungi incredibly intriguing. It seems they also hold many secrets around evolutionary ecology, since principal ecological cycling mechanisms rely on fungi as well as other microorganisms.
The goal is to build a network embracing these principles and engaging the emergence engine (https://www.mdpi.com/2075-1729/5/1/872/htm). I find all of this fascinating so I’m pretty down for whatever direction people show interest in. My chemistry/physics/geology skills aren't expertly sharp, but I can still synthesize a lot of information and constantly am understanding more. For an example heavy metal contamination is a quite a complex situation, soil, geological, climate, biological, statistical all factor ( regardless the solutions what happens after macrophage (mushrooms) are produced contain the toxic metals? Disposed how? What chemical concerns linger? Legal liability as well)
Longer term vision if all goes well includes aspirations for ecologically focused arm of the nexus community that develops around emerging intersections of science, life wellness and the social/organizational (local functions, decentralized gov, DLT, activists ect) ties that intertwine them. Decentralized science daos that interconnect within the nexus social stack and engage with the networks governance
Medium stage hope personally I’d hope to have a solid group of contributors and some basic funding mechanism, along the lines of community grants, beginning sales of products or consulting work. Legitimising things more, capital intensive investments (eg lab equipment, labour)
Immediately possible, conduct secondary research, reviews/reports, devising models for future plans or scientific inquiry. Periodical updates/new directions. Contacting experts, interviews hopefully. Low budget, likely donation/passion enabled. Robustness depends on the vigor of communication.
By nature this cant be completely fungally focused. Their essentiality in ecological processes is almost always a component. Time tested influence over the larger systems crystalizes them as the (re)organizing concept. This understanding often informs how I engage with topics. The parallels between how blockchain affects economic systems and how fungi influence ecology synergize well.Broad learnings are necessary to incorporate the whole picture, naturally complexity occurs as the interconnectedness increases. Creative outputs also increases viability and complexity.
