Cryptocurrency brokerage firm Bitpanda has raised $52 million in a Series A funding round, according to an announcement made on September 29.
- Venture capitalist Peter Thiel’s Valar Ventures led the investment round; additional investors include Austrian firm Speedinvest
- Valar Ventures’ founding partner Andrew McCormack will join BitPanda’s board of directors
- Bitpanda claims that it has over 1.3 million customers , and will use the funds for hirings and product development in Q4 2020
- Planned changes include further expansion in the European market and access to stock markets on Bitpanda’s platform
- The Series A round brings the total investment in BitPanda to $100 million
