So here we go with another share-your-battle challenge in Splinterlands!
This week it is about Prismologist, a unit of Life Splinter. I just happened to buy a set of General Sloans for upgrading (yes I know, I wanted to stop and save!), but all my Life Splinter units are still bcx1. So this is where we will look at: Bcx1 units in Silver League!

So my thoughts on Prismologist which is an Epic card of Life Splinter are...:
first thought (-): cost of 8 mana makes the Prismologist a rather pricey catch! Objectively its price is not different to last challenge's Mycelic Infantry, but still here this is my first thought on this unit.
And my second thought is (+): Blast ability! I love this ability especially in the right ruleset (hint: we will come to this later!).
Third thought (+): 3 Ranged attack is really nice, especially when looking at the Blast ability.
Fourth thought (-): Health is really low for an 8 mana-unit! It only has 4 Health and 2 Shield stat which means this unit needs some protection.
Fifth thought (+): Blast and 3 Ranged attack = this urges you to use Prismologist with General Sloan!

So I did - I combined Prismologist with General Sloan in this battle:

Hard facts: Modern Format, 18 Mana Cap, Additional Rules: Even Stevens, Holy Protection.

My opponent went with a line-up heavy reliant on melee units which could all attack each round.
I had the thought of building around the Prismologist as I considered his Blast ability especially useful in the Holy Protection ruleset. Therefore all the other units were just tanks, shielding my Prismologist.

Due to the Holy Protection ruleset round 1 was just about removing the divine shields. Therefore I skip round 1 here.
In round 2 however Prismologist was able to deal its first strike, surpassing even Chaos Knight's damage reduction ability.

At the beginning of round 3 my losses had accumulated and the battle was somewhat open, because as soon as Prismologist would move to front row I would have lost the battle as Prismologist would stop attacking the enemy.

In the course of round 3 however Prismologist scored another big hit which was enhanced by General Sloans damage boost and in consequence took the enemy's second tank off the board.

And in round 4 it was again the Prismologist that ended the battle when taking the last enemy unit off the board.

What happened? -As expected Prismologist took immense of profit of combining him with General Sloan! To me a ranged damage of 4 paired with Blast ability is a blast on its own! ;)
But considered more general: I think especially in rulesets like Holy Protection the Prismologist can be very powerful. However as a ranged unit it is always in danger of stepping into front row and in consequence of stopping to attack. For me thee Prismologist will never be my standard choice unit, but it will be a nice addition to my choice of cards!
