Play to Earn: My current earnings

Play to Earn: My current earnings

By TS90 | My Crypto Failure | 23 Dec 2021

Introduction

I have written a lot about play-to-earn games recently and also explained how much you can reasonably expect to earn playing a few of my favorite games.

In this article, I will give a more or less detailed overview of my own P2E earnings in the last 30 days. You might notice that I am in no way utilizing the potential to the fullest; this is because I mostly see this as a fun pastime and not as my job or even a major source of income.

To make comparison as easy as possible, I will convert everything into USD

I will try to explain the projects I mention in this article to some extent but for more detailed information, you´ll need to do the proper research yourself.

Gods Unchained ($974,47)

Gods Unchained is a free-to-play tactical card game that gives players true ownership of their in-game items. Led by the former game director of Magic The Gathering: Arena, the game focuses on competitive play, which means players must strategically outsmart their opponents by building decks that are able to combat a wide variety of tactics. In Gods Unchained players completely own their digital items, giving them the freedom to trade, sell and use their cards any way they like — just like owning real, tangible cards.

Gods Unchained is one of my favorite blockchain-based games and does not require any upfront investment.

In November, the GODS token was launched and players that fulfilled certain requirements (see here for more detail) have received an airdrop. Together with the airdrop, Gods Unchained have started the “Blessings of the Gods” P2E event which lets players earn GODS tokens on a weekly basis.

I have been lucky enough to receive a GODS airdrop, so my earnings from this have been substantial.

Apart from the airdrop, you can earn GODS tokens every week by playing at least 20 matches and winning at least 7 of them. The more you play and win, the more you earn.

Even without the airdrop, the earnings from Gods Unchained are great, especially considering that I find the game quite enjoyable.

Doctor Who: Worlds Apart ($12,80)

Doctor Who: Worlds Apart is a free-to-play tactical card game that gives you true ownership of your NFT cards, allowing them to be traded with other players online.

Another card game but, unlike Gods Unchained, Doctor Who: Worlds Apart has not launched, yet. So, technically, this isn´t play-to-earn at the moment but rather “log-in-to-earn” or “hold-cards-to earn”.

I have still decided to include it because I am looking forward to playing it and there is (very limited) earnings potential already.

The way you can earn from Worlds Apart at the moment is simply by logging in. You´ll receive 10 “pandaks” for one login per day and 1 pandak is pegged to $0.10 which you can then use to purchase card packs. From time to time, I have received additional pandaks which seem to be similar to the Gods Unchained airdrop mentioned above.

Since this is free money and requires very little effort, I can only recommend signing up and giving the game a try (and here is my signup link for you).

Sorare ($280,02)

Sorare is a fantasy game of soccer, where players buy, sell, trade, and manage a virtual team with digital player cards. The game uses blockchain technology based on Ethereum and was developed in 2018 by Nicolas Julia and Adrien Montfort.

Sorare is one of the games I spend most time on; I´d say only Gods Unchained comes close.

While it is possible to play Sorare without spending any money on it, it is highly improbable to earn money from playing Sorare without an upfront investment.

I have initially invested €750 into Sorare which has turned out to be quite profitable despite a number of mistakes I have made. To reward readers of my articles, I am currently giving one of them the chance to get deeper into Sorare without spending as much on it as I did.

But more on that later.

The last month on Sorare has been pretty dissatisfying; partly because of mistakes I made and partly because of bad luck.

As an explanation to the above: A calendar week consists of two game weeks in Sorare so these 9 game weeks represent 4.5 calendar weeks.

While a return of almost 25% in a month is amazing, I have certainly had better months. On top of the ETH I have won, I have also won new player cards but their value is insignificant compared to the ETH.

Building a team capable of the results you see above is hard but possible with a budget of €500.

To give one of my readers a headstart in Sorare, I am giving away a full team of limited cards to one lucky person who signs up to Sorare via my referral link. For full details, please read this article but hurry as the giveaway concludes at the end of today.

Splinterlands ($0,04)

Since the days of the Splintering, the face of the world has been shaped by blood and power. As factions battle for control, primal energies are harnessed and unleashed.
Tired of card games that require a huge investment in time to play a single session? The rapid battles in Splinterlands are fast and furious, each game only taking a few minutes.

Splinterlands is another card game but it feels refreshingly different. I am still relatively new to this (as you can see in the meager earnings) but there will definitely be updates on this in the future.

If you enjoy trading card games in general, I suggest you have a look at Splinterlands. It is taking me some time to figure it out properly (especially the P2E part) but I am slowly getting there.
