Play to Earn: Interesting Projects

By TS90 | My Crypto Failure | 30 Nov 2021

Introduction

I have been involved in crypto and P2E games since spring of this year and the more I get drawn into this the more fascinated I am by it.

The Gods Unchained and IMX airdrops I wrote about here pushed me further down the rabbit hole (and luckily provided me with some cash to try out a few things).

There are two early-stage projects I am especially excited about right now that I will briefly explain here.

Skyweaver

Skyweaver is already a fully functional game and I enjoy it a lot.

It is a trading card game like Magic: The Gathering or Gods Unchained. What sets the game apart for me is the amazing looks and innovative gameplay.

I have joined their closed beta when it launched and am super happy I did so. I can only recommend everyone to follow their Twitter account to find out about their launch and join the game as soon as you can. At least the beta is free to play and I would expect the finished game to be so, too.

If you don´t want to wait for the full launch, I´d like to refer you to this tweet by Skyweaver.

While the game is fully functional, the P2E mechanism is not very evolved. As far as I can see, the only way to earn playing the game is winning silver or gold cards that are minted on the blockchain and tradeable.

I hope they will go down the same route Gods Unchained did and launch their own currency but even if they don´t, it is still a highly enjoyable game.

Footium

Footium is a lot earlier in its development than Skyweaver and not playable, yet.

I have joined Sorare shortly after I started my crypto journey and have enjoyed it ever since so I was on the lookout for other football NFT games. Footium promises to provide almost everything a football manager game can wish for and I have decided to give it a try as soon as they launch.

Footium lets you buy and manage your own football club including stadium, coaches, and youth academy. Your players will be minted on the blockchain and tradeable with other managers.

They have some details on the P2E mechanism on their website already but I suppose the plans will only be finalised during the beta.

The club sale has started on Nov 15th and sold out pretty quickly. I have bought two clubs for a total 0.12 ETH (incl Gas) and I am looking forward to the club reveal, which will show what leagues my clubs are allocated to.

Since Footium is not playable, yet, and it is not free to play, I don´t want to give a recommendation on this one, yet. If you have some ETH to spare and enjoy football games as much as I do, it might make sense to buy a club on OpenSea or at least to keep an eye on Footium´s Twitter to hear about new club sales.
