I hope you had a nice weekend and started well into the new week.
Now you can listen to my Monday-Mix by manuell #085, live mixed and broadcasted on the 15th of March 2021 to the audioasyl.net platform. It's a calm mix for electronic music lovers who appreciate different and calmer mixes besides the pushy club mixes. This Monday-Mix is located in the genres Dub-Techno and Electronica and was mixed on the magic island La Gomera.
This March, after working almost one year in my home office, I had to escape for a short time from this pandemic situation. I needed a break, fresh air, and after the wintertime, also some sun onto my face. Once again, I decided to escape to my beloved island La Gomera (Canary Islands). I did found a lovely house to stay in and I brought there not only my hiking shoes but also my computer and some controllers and my Minirig soundsystem.
Technical challenges I had with this mix
I was very lucky that my house had a quite good internet connection. I did some tests before I streamed my set to audioasyl.net, and everything went fine. In Tazo, a really small village in La Gomera, nobody has an internet connection by wire. Every packet is distributed over the air with a long-distance wifi-connection. One guy has built up this long-distance wifi-network all over the island and is renting out his service to people who live at the end of the world. On one hike in the mountains, I did find a relay station on a top of a mountain, powered with solar. This is a very cool project!
For this mix, the challenge was mainly to setup again my little controllers with a good midi mixer. This time I did not find a perfect mixer template for my controller and I had to customize it to my needs. But in the end, mixing with my controllers worked.

What is Monday-Mix
My “Monday-Mix by manuell” is a live-broadcast with nice Electronica, Dub-Techno, Chillout, spiced up with a lot of Creative Commons music from netlabels and my field recordings. It started as a technical experiment (Icecast) for myself, became a broadcast for my friends, and ended up until now with 85 shows over 12 years and listeners all over the world. Who is manuell
I'm a DJ from Zurich, Switzerland. I'm mixing since 1994 and my sound is mostly influenced by Techno, Dub-Techno, and Deep-House. Aka “manuell maschinell” I mix with up to 4 decks and integrate a Drum-Maschine and/or other machines as live components into my setup.
