Hope you read the parts before, I was hoping this would not only be a guide for people who have/will or in future will have teams, but also as a some sort of remedy for all of the people who were hurt, damaged, by having a a poor Boss. I know how such an experience can influence self-esteem. What if it was not You but a toxic boss, or maybe the whole organization was toxic?
Hope this is useful.

They don't challenge people intellectually.

When talented and intelligent people find themselves doing things that are too easy or boring, they seek other jobs that will challenge their intellects.

Having people who are performing tasks way below their posibilities is a great tragedy of our times. People who speak 3 languages and have great analytical skills sitting in spreadsheets and coping and pasting columns are a sad reality. Those people should be taking care of your customers, improving your processes and thinking of new products. Instead of that they are slowly burning themselfs out and sooner or later you will end up with them leaving you or staying with all enthusiasm gone. Nobody knows which scenario is worst.

As a Great leader you need to challenge your employees to accomplish things that seem inconceivable at first. Instead of setting mundane, incremental goals,  set lofty ones that push people out of their comfort zones. Help them be innovative and supoort them in rapid prototyping do everything in your power to help them succeed.

Give them space to work independently and you will be surprised what the results might be.

And sometimes let them make mistakes, many good products are being developed in a process of one failure after another.

Like Albert Einstein said, failure really is just success in progress
