A little over a week ago I wrote about how BANANO is the currency of the future and touched upon what our society might look like in the Distant Future. It wasn't pretty picture. And people asked some good questions. Questions such as:
"And how do you plan to use Banano in the future if there will be no electrical system because the sun burned all infrastructure"
I touched on it in the comments, but feel it is worth making a dedicated post about how we can continue to mine and use crypto in such a world.
Enter the Raspberry Pi
The Raspberry Pi is what is known as a Single Board Computer. This means it provides a complete computational packed on a single board. No additional hardware needed. It is also very inexpensive. The lowest end model, the Raspberry Pi Zero, retails for $5 USD. That is only 5379.87281980654 BANANO. The top of the line models, the Raspberry Pi 4B, are also inexpensive. They start at $35 USD, or 37659.10973864578 BAN.
Because of its low price point, the Raspberry Pi is incredibly popular and many buy them on a whim. Most Raspberry Pis end up on a shelf perfectly preserved in a protective layer of dust. This dust shields the Pi from harmful solar rays and other more sinister forms of radiation. This means there is a high likelihood that in the year future we will have a ready stock of Raspberry Pi to rely on.
Farming BANANO
Traditional BANANO mining won't work on a Raspberry Pi, unfortunately. Or any ARM computers for that matter. This is because the folks at Folding@home lack vision and a sense of future-readiness. They only release their software for x86 architectures. That's ok, fortunately there is an alternative.
⚡️🤑⚡️there is the BANANO Powerplant ⚡️🤑⚡️
The BANANO Powerplant works by mining webchain in the browser using Javascript. The site then sells the WEB coin to fund its BANANO reserves and pays out in BANANO. It will work with pretty much any browser as long as you don't have adblock or anything blocking the miner Javascript! Just enter in your BANANO address and hit the start button. You're good to go! Since we're actually not mining BANANO itself, I like to call this BANANO farming.
Now let's get back to the Raspberry Pis.
Mining With Raspberry Pi
We will consider two models, the aforementioned Raspberry Pi Zero W and Raspberry Pi 4. For the heck of it, let's try mining with the Zero first. Let's see what its 1Ghz of raw compute power can handle.

Hmm that's not good. Our hash rate is too low for the Powerplant to even register and we're on track to earn 0 BANANO per hour. Ok, let's table the Raspberry Pi Zero and bring out the big guns.

An overclocked Raspberry Pi 4. This one is running all four of its cores at over 2Ghz. In the future these will be considered priceless artifacts, so if you've got one, consider yourself blessed. 😇

Ah, a respectable 26.4 hashes per second. We're now on track to earn 0.05 BAN per hour! 🤑 Some BANANO economists predict that in the year 2023 BANANO will be worth over $100k USD in today's money. So that 0.05 BAN will really add up!!

(Today though it will take probably around a decade to pay for the Pi 4. Not counting electricity.)
So what can we use the Raspberry Pi Zero for if it's worthless for BANANO mining?
Solar Powered Compute
So this gets back to our earlier question:
"And how do you plan to use Banano in the future if there will be no electrical system because the sun burned all infrastructure"
With solar panels! The Pi Zero may not be powerful enough to farm our BANANOs, but we can definitely use it to exchange and manage them!

The Raspberry Pi Zero can run on under 1 watt of electricity... typically around 120 mAh according to this research. With an external battery pack we can keep it going all night. Now I know you're probably wondering, "but how will we power the miner?"
Just burn some garbage and power a steam turbine. Easy!
Thank you BANANO
I want to take this last minute to thank BANANO for giving us hope. Though the future may be bleak, BANANO will shine bright.
friend here, signing off.
