I'm going to be honest right from the start....I made a very stupid mistake on what should have been a straightforward exchange.
I had a small amount of BNB that I was looking to swap in a few different exchanges to a few different coins and tokens.
The first exchange up was an exchange for some Cosmos (ATOM) to increase the scale of my staking reward. I entered the amount of BNB I was sending, typed and triple checked my receive address, and then went over to my wallet to scan the QR code and send the BNB to ChangeNow. I double checked it and submitted it to the network. No problem I thought!
Big problem it turns out...
I checked and double checked my address. I went back and forth to make sure I was sending the right amount, but I forgot one important thing: the memo. As soon as I submitted the transaction, I saw the set of numbers that I should have typed into the memo line (I am too used to other coins/tokens without this feature - TRX, BTC, etc., but it is absolutely my mistake), but by then it was too late.
So here is where ChangeNow comes in to save the day:
1. I open up the chat window on their site and they quickly respond.
2. They kindly remind me to be more careful next time (I won't make that mistake again!)
3. They check the transaction and then ask if I'd like a refund or to continue the exchange at the new rate when/if they can fix it
4. They inform me that they're going to pass this along to someone in their technical support team and ask for my email to let me know when it is fixed.
5. The next day I logged in and saw a very polite email telling me the issue was resolved and after checking my wallet, I saw that they saved me indeed! On the confirmation page on ChangeNow's website, I saw my new favorite word - SUCCESS!
Overall the ChangeNow support team was incredibly helpful.
My takeaways from this experience:
1. I need to be more careful! When I do another transaction (especially one I am less familiar with), I need to more thoroughly read the process of sending a coin/token.
2. I think I got lucky this time. There was no guarantee that this could be fixed and if I had made a different mistake like typing in the wrong address it would likely have turned out worse.
3. I am very impressed with ChangeNow's customer service. They greatly helped me and it is not some thing I will forget.
Please learn from my foolishness and triple check your transactions!!!
