Inktober Day 22 and 23: Heist and Booger

By DoctorPlatypus | Doctor Platypus | 24 Oct 2022

I decided to skip day 21 (prompt "Bad Dog") after all, for the reasons I mentioned before, although I really do like the idea of drawing a cartoon character named 'Bad Dog' who is maybe some punk grandpa wearing a knitted bondage harness and a tattoo that says 'Bad Dog' haha.

Anyhow, here are my drawings for 'Heist' and 'Booger'.

Day 22: Heist

Stagecoach robbery - pencil

On the whole, this has elements I am very happy with and elements that could use lots of work. For example, I like the stagecoach, although it could sit more centered on its axles; and I love the way the gunman in the coach came out. Similarly, I like the look of the bandana on the robber, and I love his hat. However, horses are WAY harder to draw than I anticipated, and both of mine look like they are made of silly putty instead of meat. Also, the humans are the same size as (or bigger than!) the horses, which is obviously wrong. I think I will probably practice horse drawing at some point after Inktober ends, and in the meantime it's possible I should have chosen an easier angle for these particular horses.

Day 23: Booger

I'm not sure whether anyone remembers my post from last Inktober, when the prompt was PICK? My first instinct for 'booger' was to draw someone picking their nose, but I had already done that, and pretty well, I think, so I wanted to raise the stakes a little this year:

This was tons of fun to draw, and the angle was much easier than my poor horses from 'heist'. I love the shape of the mouth/muzzle and the vividness of the tongue. I feel like I could have been more successful making the eyes look bulgy, but I am not sure how to make that happen. Anyhow, I love this one. I am still giggling.

I hope you're all having a great day :D
