I hope you are all having a nice week. Welcome to cryptogod-1’s blog on all things sports. Today I will be looking at how the AFCON tournament has finished up, with the third placed playoff and final having been played out over the weekend.

Third Placed Playoff
Burkina Faso (3)3-3(5) Cameroon - Sat 5th February 19:00 (UK Time)
The third placed playoff saw outsiders Burkina Faso up against the host nation of Cameroon for the chance to finish third at the tournament. Cameroon went 3-0 down but managed to get themselves back into it and emerge victorious in the shootout. Both keepers had games to forget throughout the match, and the Burkina Faso was particularly reckless when coming for balls. Neither goalie did much to help their cause and both were responsible for a number of the goals conceded.
Final
Senegal (4)0-0(2) Egypt - Sunday 6th February 19:00 (UK Time)
The showpiece game saw Liverpool superstars Sadio Mané and Mohammed Salah facing off to be the Champions of Africa. In a thrilling match which saw Mané have an early penalty saved, the game ended up as a stalemate and went all the way to a shootout. Egypt were certainly able to weather the Senegal storm throughout the match and created a couple of fine chances for themselves, and would have fancied their chances after the previous success in shootouts at this tournament. It came down to Mané to score the winning penalty, making up for his earlier miss, and giving Senegal their first African Cup of Nations victory ever in their history.
