Welcome to CryptoGod-1's blog on all things gaming and literature. Today I will be doing a quick write up about the upcoming release of Football Manager 2023. The newest version is highly anticipated as it will include plenty of new features, which I will mention below. The game is due to drop on November 8th, with early access for Beta members releasing two weeks earlier.
What is Football Manager
Football manager is a game as old as time at this stage in my opinion. As I mentioned I have quite a biased view seeing as I've been playing them since the original championship manager days. For myself I fully believe Football Manager to be one of the best games ever created, taking the simplicity of a spreadsheet and creating a world-renowned game from it. Taking the place of a manager, players get to be involved in almost all aspects of managing a real football club. Whether it's scouring the globe for the next best wonderkid or rebuilding a fallen giant back to its former glory, football manager allows fans to live an in-depth experience of the game. Beta Access
As always, when Football Manager is due for release, two weeks prior to the release date (November 8th, 2022) a Beta version is available to all who bought pre-release. This two-week period allows Beta users exclusive access to the game, where their play helps to resolve any underlying issues or bugs prior to mainstream release. This should be accessible around the 25th of October, although the official Beta access may vary in different regions depending on the various platforms.
Newest Features
AI Improvements
The managers have been drastically improved to be more intelligent and savvy than ever before in FM 2023. Opponents will adapt to tactics and the changing nature of a match, meaning you have to be as sharp as ever to become the best. The managers will be able to chose tactics, formations, and player roles to a level not seen before. Match players have also been improved, meaning their in game decisions will be more structured based on their actual attributes and abilities. The graphics have also been improved for the match engine, thanks to the use of Inverse Kinematics (IK).
Champions League & European Nights
European matches have always been special, and now FM 2023 will make it just as special in the game. UEFA Club Competitions will feature distinct walkout cutscenes (and music) before the opening whistle as well as a bespoke camera angle to make the atmosphere and feeling of playing in Europe feel real.
Cup Draws
Cup draws for competitions have been made more exciting, with managers receiving an inbox item featuring the results of fan polls about who your supporters would like to see you matched up with. During the draws, there are two main screens: Live Draw and Overview, meaning you can enjoy the excitement of viewing the Live Draw in real time. There will be a host providing clarity on who can’t be drawn in a certain group, for example two teams from the same nation. The Overview tab, meanwhile, will show the current state of play across the groups and the teams that are left to be drawn.
Fan Relationship
A new supporters profile, giving a level to the feelings of the supports has been included. The Supporter Profile is split into six categories:
- Hardcore: The most loyal and passionate section of the fanbase
- Core: Representing the average football fan
- Family: These supporters tend to be temperate and patient
- Fair Weather: Fans who are especially impatient for success
- Corporate: Most interested in the stadium’s facilities and club marketability.
- Casual: Less passionate and loyal than the average fan
This will allow managers to understand the expectations of the fans, how they feel after certain matches or run of games, and keeps the Supporter Confidence levels as realistic as possible.
Manager Timeline
Included in FM 2023 is a new way of displaying and tracking the achievements and milestones of your career for each game world you create. There will be a collection of different events from your game career which will range from title wins to when your trusted assistant joined your staff, and all in chronological order. This will allow players to look back at the high and low points of their careers, while making it a simple way to show off your accomplishments to your friends.
Club Licenses
Over the years there have always been issues with clubs being shown with the correct name, location, kit, etc, due to licenses. This year fans of the game can expect at the minimum Juventus to be included instead of the usual "Zebre."
