Xbot SPS Rental Market Has Been Officially Shut Down

I kind of expected it: lately, fewer and fewer users were using the service, likely due to the very low demand for SPS even on the official market, where for over a year now it’s been rare to see more than a handful of active requests.

It was precisely the emptiness of this screen that pushed me to use the alternative market offered by Xbot, which I had actually already talked about before: through the Xbot Rental Market, it was possible to list your SPS at a fixed price and wait for interested players to accept your offer. A much more convenient system — at least for me — compared to the official market, which requires constant monitoring while waiting to find a player looking for exactly the number of SPS I have available...

As long as it lasted, it was very convenient to use this secondary market, so it’s with great regret that I learned about its shut down:

It’s not the first time I’ve written about the shutdown of a service created by the Splinterlands community: 5 months ago, it was the turn of Splex.gg, a market that offered tons of useful features and that I had used for years before it was completely shut down.

The SPS rental market provided by the Xbot site was just one of the features offered there, but it was also the only one I used — so this event affects me too and makes life on Splinterlands a bit harder.

No more SPS rentals

Now I’m no longer in a position to easily and quickly rent out my SPS — this source of passive income no longer exists for me.

Luckily, it was a very small income — about 20 DEC per day — so it doesn’t make a huge difference, but it still removes another reason for me to accumulate SPS: quitting the game had already removed one major reason, and losing the ability to rent out my SPS takes away a second.

So the question I have to ask myself is: what can I do with my SPS now?

At this point, my SPS serve only one purpose: earning staking rewards with an APR of around 10% — a very low return compared to what I get from card rentals (over 50%), even though SPS has held its value much better than my card collection.

Still, holding an asset that’s not doing anything isn’t something I particularly like. Ideally, I’d use these SPS to play — maybe in the new Frontier mode? — but the main problem remains the little free time I have.

An alternative would be to consider the scholar option, delegating my SPS to someone and using my DEC earnings to provide them with enough funds to rent the cards they need to play… but how do I find a scholar? That would definitely be the most fun path to take — maybe not the most profitable, but certainly one of the most satisfying and in line with my goals on Splinterlands.

Xbot SPS Rental Market è Stato Ufficialmente Chiuso

Un po' me lo aspettavo: ultimamente c'erano sempre meno utenti che usavano il servizio, complice sicuramente la bassissima richiesta di SPS anche sul market ufficiale, dove è da oltre un anno che è raro trovare più di qualche richiesta attiva.

Proprio la desolazione di questa schermata mi aveva spinto ad utilizzare il market alternativo offerto da Xbot, di cui tra l'altro vi avevo in passato già parlato: tramite l'Xbot Rental Market era possibile mettere a disposizione i propri SPS per un prezzo prestabilito ed aspettare che fossero i giocatori interessati ad accettare la nostra offerta. Un sistema molto più comodo - almeno per me - rispetto a quello del market ufficiale, che richiede di essere costantemente monitorato in attesa di trovare qualche giocatore alla ricerca esattamente del numero di SPS che ho a disposizione...

Finchè è durato è stato perciò molto comodo usare questo market secondario ed è quindi con grande dispiacere che ne ho appreso la chiusura:

Non è la prima volta che scrivo della cessazione di un servizio creato dalla community di Splinterlands: 5 mesi fa era stato il turno di Splex.gg, un market che offriva tantissime funzioni utili e che avevo utilizzato per anni prima che venisse completamente chiuso.

L'SPS rental market messo a disposizione dal sito di Xbot è solo una delle funzioni offerte da questo sito, ma era anche l'unica che utilizzato, per cui anche questo evento mi colpisce e contribuisce a rendermi la vita su Splinterlands un po' più difficile.

Niente più noleggio di SPS

Adesso non sono più nella condizione di poter noleggiare facilmente e velocemente i miei SPS: questa fonte di rendita passiva per me quindi non esiste più.

Per mia fortuna era una rendita molto piccola - circa 20 DEC al giorno - per cui non mi cambia molto, ma mi toglie comunque un'altra ragione per accumulare SPS: smettere di giocare ne aveva tolta una molta importante e non poter noleggiare i miei SPS ne toglie così una seconda.

La domanda che mi devo porre, perciò, è: cosa posso fare ora con i miei SPS?

In questo momento i miei SPS svolgono una sola funzione: guadagnare ricompense da staking con un APR che si attesta intorno al 10%; un valore estremamente basso rispetto a quello che ottengo dal noleggio delle carte (oltre il 50%), anche se SPS ha mantenuto il proprio valore molto meglio della mia collezione di carte.

Resta però il fatto che tenere un asset a non fare niente non è qualcosa che mi piaccia particolarmente: l'ideale sarebbe utilizzare questi SPS per giocare - magari nella nuova modalità Frontier? - ma il problema principale resta sempre il poco tempo libero a disposizione.

Un'alternativa sarebbe provare a valutare l'ipotesi scholar, delegando a qualcuno i miei SPS ed utilizzando la mia rendita di DEC per mettergli a disposizione fondi sufficienti a noleggiare abbastanza carte per giocare... ma come trovare uno scholar? Questa sarebbe sicuramente la strada più divertente da seguire: magari non la più redditizia, ma sicuramente una delle più soddisfacenti ed in linea con quelli che sono i miei obiettivi su Splinterlands.
