Steem vs Hive: Who Will Win?

Steem vs Hive: Who Will Win?

By Jelly Fish | cryptofun | 25 Mar 2020

Recently I've seen here quite a lot of articles about Steem/Hive hardfork. Actually, I don't care much about that Steem/Hive drama. And to be completely honest -- I'd prefer to stay with the winner, no matter who it would be.

What surprises me in many of the above-mentioned articles is their explanation of Mr. Justin Sun's "plan". The most don't go further than to suppose that Mr. Sun had bought Steem only to sell its "development fund" to the market.

Well, the value of all Steem blockchain is not that sh*tty fund. The value of all Steem blockchain is the dApps that run on it. It's the dApps and their users who justify Steem coin's existence and make it worth something greater than zero. In other words, if not dApps and their paying users -- Steem's "development fund" would be simply a pile of sh*tcoins.

Mr. Justin Sun didn't pay for Steem's "development fund". Mr. Justin Sun paid for Steem dApps -- and mainly, for Steemit and Splinterlands.

If we check Steem and Hive dApps stats we will see that Steem-based Steemit and Splinterlands still generate the largest userbase and money. Quite a number of dApps are currently drifting from Steem to Hive, but the stats of those dApps are far from impressive... Currently, the one who controls Steemit and Splinterlands wins all that hardfork drama.

Well, Steemit will obviously stay on Steem. However, censorship and "promoting 3rd party services" bullsh*t will probably drive many users away to Hive.blog sooner or later.

Splinterlands are hesitating. As far as I can understand, personally, Splinterlands devs are rather anti-Steemists. But the devs also have users who have "assets" and it restricts the devs' personal feelings quite a lot. Besides, Mr. Sun's money and marketing skills could give a good boost to the game (which is currently have only ca. 3K users, quite far from Dota and friends).

Shortly, a) Mr. Sun will not dump that "development fund" to the market, b) Mr. Sun's actions may boost Steem's value (whatever we think about his actions from moral point of view), and c) if Hive wouldn't get something like Steemit and Splinterlands, its value will dump pretty soon...
