Hello Splinterlands Summoners! Welcome to another edition of Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge. For this week, it's Lost Legendaries: Legendary monsters may not be used in battles.
The Ruleset

Lost Legendaries - Legendary Monsters may not be used in battles.
Reverse Speed - Monsters with the lowest speed attack first and have the higher chance to evade attacks.
Available Splinters - all except for Fire.
Max Mana - 45
For this battle I chose the Water Splinter. It's my best Splinter even with only Commons and Rares. All my other Splinters like Dragon and Light need a Legendary monster to be competitive. Also the high mana cost compelled me to choose Water. If this required lower mana, I would choose Death or Magic Splinters instead.
On the other hand, choosing Water has a major drawback because of the Reverse Speed ruleset. Not only are Water Monsters fast, my summoner Kelya also gives +1 Speed which in this case is a debuff.
My Team

Kelya Frendul - This is probably the best summoner from the Chaos Legion set. She provides a shield and speed buff to the whole team making her work well with melee, range or magic units.

Diemonshark in the first position. One of the best rare tanks in the game. It deals 3 melee damage and has 7 shield and 8 hearts. It also has the Trample and Enrage abilities making it deal insane damage.

Flying Squid in the second position. It's ideal for this position due to its Reach ability where it deals 3 melee damage. It also has the Blind ability potentially debuffing the enemy's non-magic units.

Nerissa Tridawn in third position to deal 3 magic damage.

Deep Lurker in fourth position. This is one of the best offensive common unit in the game. It deals 4 melee damage and has the Opportunity and Poison abilities.

Merdaali Guardian in fifth position. One of the best supporting units in the game having both Tank Heal and Repair abilities.

Swamp Spitter in sixth and final position. This unit is both a damage dealer and support which is amazing for a common unit. It deals 3 ranged damage while having a decent shield and hearts for longevity. It also has the Repair ability.
The Opponent
My opponent chose the Magic Splinter and also has a higher level summoner than mine. Except for the Regal Peryton, his team is composed of slow units to take advantage of the Reverse Speed ruleset.
The Battle
The opponent's team was able to take advantage of the Reverse Speed ruleset and took out my tank even before it can deal any damage. My Flying Squid and the rest of my team were also dispatched rather quickly as his Magic team did a lot of damage. My opponent had the better team and was able to use the ruleset to his advantage.
