SPLINTERLANDS: The new FIRE Reward Cards!

He is the cheapest reward card currently, and with good reason: Honestly, he's kind of useless for new players, Bronze, Silver, and even a lot of Gold players.

His biggest advantage is that he has Void Armor, which makes him at least an okay pick for anti-magic Fire. But also, anti-magic Fire is pretty much nonexistent. You shouldn't ever knowingly be playing Fire into a Magic team, so his one use is kind of not a use case currently.

He is however, the Amplify card of Fire, empowering Thorns, Reflect Magic, Return Fire, and Retaliate. This in turn begins to empower cards like Chwala, Almo Cambio, Cornealus and Living Lava. This kind of means that most of the cards it empowers are Position 1 Tanks, with very little option for other cards to Amplify, outside of expensive legendaries.

Many, if not ALL of the good Reflect Magic and REturn Fire cards that Fire can use are leaving Modern soon. (For instance, Cerberus and Prismatic Energy...)

That being said, I believe this card wasn't created for nothing, and WILL be seeing some type of use/buff in Chaos Legion. IMO all he needs is a couple of new Modern format cards to really get the engine rolling.

At $.12 per BCX, meaning it costs $12 to get to Level 6, with Amplify

Exploding Rats, Meme Teme Dreme Teme

This is the new Exploding Dwarfs, only slightly more annoying. With high speed, high damage, true strike, blast, and Retribution, he's dodgy, he hits hard, and he blows up on death, what's not to like?

Put him in Equalizer Rounds, Opportunity Rounds, Sneak Attack Rounds and watch Rats go BRRRR. Not as fast as Exploding Dwarfs w/ Trample, but with a unique offensive blast on death!

He currently costs about $.27 per BCX. Meaning he costs about $10 to get to level 5, where he gains Retribution and becomes an annoying low mana card that could potentially wipe your opponent's team. (Play him against Water magic and cackle as his 1 hp monsters collapse to dynamite rodents) Your biggest weakness here in water is ironically another Rat... thing... Venari Wavesmith.

Lava Launcher: Giving Yodin some Lava

My favorite of the new fire cards, although Exploding Rats' meme potential and general comedy puts it at a close tie.

Lava Launcher is way stronger than people seem to be giving him credit for. A powerful tank, an anti-sneak backline attacker, he is extremely versatile, and despite the 9 mana cost, I found multiple ways to incorporate him into battles, even low mana battles where he literally steamrolled the competition at times.

At $2.1 per BCX, he costs about $42 currently to hit Level 4, where he gains Stun of all things. If you've ever faced a lot of stun cards, you'll know how infuriating a powerful attacking tank with stun can really be. Those stuns can shutdown an entire team.

Which card is your favorite?
