Passive income with crypto

By Box | BitBox | 5 Nov 2022

We hear about passive income all the time and for the past couple years I've been working on building this up. As I've been in full on hodl mode it's not something I've really looked at what I gain on a monthly basis so as a fun experiment I thought I'd keep track of it and post the results.

There will be a final post at the start of December to go through all the results so this post is just to explain what I'll be doing, where I'll be doing it and how I'm doing it. I'll be providing links so where you can do these too for anyone that wants to give these a try.

So without further ado let's go through the list!

First up crypto.com defi staking. Currently staking cro on crypto.coms defi wallet pays out 11% Apr. This goes up and down as people stake and unstake. There are 5billion tokens to be released over 10 years just for these rewards. We're currently around 2 years in. Once this 10 years is up Cro will reach 100% circulating supply

Secondly still with crypto.com but these time on its app we have the earn features. I have a few coins in 1-3 month earns earning me a little crypto each week. Unfortunately since we've entered the bear market these rates have been slashed substantially but a little interest is better than none and given crypto.com safety rating and high insurance packages I feel safe leaving some crypto on there.

And once again with crypto.com we have their debit card. I almost exclusively use my Crypto.com rose gold debit card for all my shopping and getting 3% cashback on all purchases plus the Spotify, Netflix and amazon prime rebates this can stack up.

If you don't have an account with crypto.com yet you can sign up at https://www.crypto.com/app/kk2mmv6xub by using this link you support this blog and you'll get yourself $25 in cro when you stake for your card.

Next up we have a new contender in the game, Hi.com. They too are releasing a debit card. Their virtual ones are due this month and I've staked for the gold card so I'll be looking at possibly splitting purchases between crypto.com or hi depending on how well the hi card works. I'll be due to make a whopping 8% on purchases plus getting rebates on 10 different lifestyle subscriptions.

In the mean time whilst waiting for the hi.com card my I'm putting my hi coins that unlock from my vault into their earn feature and will be getting 52% Apr on those which can add up nicely. For those new to hi you can buy their token in the app from their reserves at a 33% discount. The catch being that these tokens are released over the space of year, 1 day at a time. Once their reserves have sold out everything will need to be purchased on the open market.

Currently the cards are being rolled out in the EAA and UK but will be coming to the rest of the world next year. If its something you're keen on though you can get on the wait list early and start earning interest on your hi coins now which could let you save some money on the total number of hi needing to be purchased. If you'd like to sign up you do actually need a referral code for this one so feel free to use mine "Boxxie" or imply use the link: https://www.hi.com/boxxie

OK that's all the cards and staking I have next up we have a wax nft based game. Alienworlds.io. I got in somewhat early with this one and purchased a plot of land. Just holding this gets me close to 70 tlm per day. Any mining done on my land gets me a very small percentage (if you do join feel free to mine on Neri 28:8 :-)) and of course I can mine myself to get Tlm too. Now when I say mine this is just an in game term. You aren't mining using computational power like you would bitcoin so you can use your phone for this one.

I'm just starting to realise how long this article could end up with all the explanations so we're going to make this a 2 part one! This article has mostly talked about methods that require some financial input (alienworlds optional) in the next article we'll talk more about other methods such as faucets, reddit and discord which will bring us along to a new chain and some defi stuff.
