Health and You

Health and You

By theinspired | Game of Life | 29 Nov 2019

This Thanksgiving season was wonderful. However, it did come with it's complications; a good friend suffered a seizure and was hospitalized. If there is one thing I've learned in my life is that your health truly is and should be your prized possession.

Physical

Our bodies can withstand negligence to a point but then the impact can detrimental. I've made it a goal to have an annual physical. Maybe this is easier for me since I was in the military for 10 years and checking our health was critical since I served on Nuclear Submarines. Once we deployed we were at sea with only one medical professional so either we stayed healthy or he's be overwhelmed.

Having a balanced diet is key to your health. Healthy nutrition is your first line of defense to ill health. Food can help your body heal itself. I attempt to exercise regularly. Even if it's jumping jacks, push ups, and situps/leg lifts - getting physical exercise is another building block to better health.

In addition to my annual physical, I've made it a point to get a Life Line Screening annually. This is a service that goes beyond my annual physical. It's a way to be aware of your cardiovascular health to prevent strokes. Preventative medicine can help reduce the need for costly hospital visits and possibly medicine.

I believe in a vitamin a day. Since I don't have a balanced diet (I continue to work at it daily) and even if I did - there will probably be gaps in me getting the required vitamins and minerals. I was introduced to Isagenix last year and have been taking the Isagenix Complete Essentials with IsaGenesis every since. (If you are interested to learn more let's chat)

Mental

Many times when we think of health, we immediately think of the physical variety. But there is another health that is equally if not more important. Mental health. The brain is a beautiful machine that can do things beyond our comprehension. However, many times we struggle with mental challenge due to chemical or physiological impairments.

Taking time to slow down is vital to your mental health; I know so ironic me saying this. I make it a goal to try to meditate even if it's just 5 mins a day. I use the app Headspace. How is think is as important as to what we think. A book I'd recommend is What to Say when You Talk to Yourself by Shad Hemstetter. Brian Johnson provides a quick summary of the book but I'd recommend reading or listening to the full book.

I could go on and on but I hope you get the point, being intentional about your health is paramount and can save not only you and your family but the entire world unneeded cost. Healthcare cost are enormous and anything you can do to reduce the need and use for medicine will make you and the world a better place.

A newsletter designed to encourage and inspire you to play the game of life the best you can. While some don't believe that life is a game and I'd agree, it's multiple games on several levels; it's not just one game. There is a game of health, wealth, relationships, career/education, faith, and rest/relaxation. It's not a game from the perspective someone wins or loses but in theory and dynamic.
