Weekend Briefs: Faucets and Freebies Updates

Weekend Briefs: Faucets and Freebies Updates (3/12/23)

Howdy, my crypto friends! I hope you've had a great week - we're finally entering grilling season here in Texas - that nice few weeks where it's just warm enough to sit outside and enjoy the weather...before the mosquitoes come out in droves. In any case, this week was a pretty standard week in my free crypto sources, all things considered.

Banano Reddit Airdrop

I've mentioned it before, but while I'm always out there looking for legitimate ways to earn free crypto - often times the best sources are from  writers and platforms I trust, including those on Publish0x. This week started with just such a notification from the official @banano account, letting us know there was a serious airdrop happening on their subreddit. Banano does a great job of spreading out the love (aka airdrops and rains) across their social media channels, so if you're looking to collect some $BAN, be sure to join r/banano, AND to follow their account here on Publish0x so that you don't miss out on future airdrops.

Horizen Community Hub Giveaway

Horizen Community Hub Hosts Giveaway

Horizen Community Hub is hosting a giveaway to celebrate the Yuma Testnet launch of Horizen Eon. If you're not familiar with Horizen Community Hub, it's a once-daily faucet that pays Horizen directly into your wallet - no need to wait to request a payout. If you maintain your check-in streak, you get a larger and larger payout over the course of five days - at which point you'll also qualify for a bonus roll for even more $ZEN. You can also easily get bonuses added to your daily claims by using the Brave browser and/or connecting several of your social media accounts.

For this particular giveaway, rewards are not guaranteed for all participants - but submissions are easy and might be worth your time considering it's a respectable platform. (Though, to be honest, the faucet's been out of funds for the last few days...which isn't a great look for a platform that's trying to attract new users.)

CoinPayU Reduces Faucets Again?

I reported awhile back that CoinPayU was going to limit the amount of faucet redemptions users could claim each day...and from my experiences this week, it appears that they've pulled back even more. At last check-in, I was hitting my daily limit about four to six hours before reset; now, I'm hitting it easily well before six hours prior to reset. Again, even with these changes CoinPayU is still my most lucrative faucet, but it's worth mentioning that these restrictions appear to be ongoing.

Is FaucetCrypto On Its Way Out?

FaucetCrypto has long been my second favorite crypto faucet and PTC site, but there may be cause for concern moving forward with this platform. In the past, it wasn't unusual for a couple of the withdrawal options to be out of funds or under maintenance, but at the time of writing this post, twelve out of the seventeen options are unavailable, and they have been for almost two weeks now. FaucetCrypto has addressed the three under maintenance on their social media profiles (Bitcoin, Polygon, and Solana - my three favorites, of course), informing users there have been withdrawal issues with those options and they are suspended until further notice.

I stepped into FaucetCrypto's site-based chat yesterday to see if there were any updates regarding the other nine withdrawal methods - and got a surprising rude response from the chat moderators to my questions. I've been lurking in the chat ever since, and unfortunately it seems this poor level of customer service is common for the site. (Poor community management seems to be a widespread problem in the crypto community - I've recently written a detailed post on Medium about how to be an effective Community Manager in crypto.)

I've personally decided to hold off on completing any more faucet claims or PTC ads until the withdrawal options are restored - I hope they will be, but in any case, this was a disappointing development for one of my go-to faucet sites.

Be Safe When You're Playing to Earn

Again, I love the Publish0x community, so I also wanted to give a shout-out to @cryptogod-1 for his recent coverage of some of the scams that are surrounding the play-to-earn (P2E) opportunities in the crypto realm. If you've followed my writing for any period of time you've probably noticed that I have a whole blog series focusing on P2E smartphone games, so I wanted to elevate some of the vulnerabilities of the industry, and remind everyone to be careful and DYOR!

New-to-Me Faucet: Banfaucet

I wasn't quite sure about this faucet a few weeks ago, but I started to revisit it earlier this month and I think it is going to take a place in my faucet gauntlet moving forward. 'Banfaucet' is kind of a misnomer...but also kind of not. Banfaucet offers a pretty interesting spread of cryptocurrencies for withdrawal. You can get the lowest thresholds of withdrawals (100 points) from Nano and it's forks (so Banano and Paw, for example), but the site also offers a good mix of other coins and tokens for claiming at 250 points. (Some transaction fees apply depending on which crypto you choose.)

But one of the significant positive signals for me is the quick and responsive atmosphere in the Banfaucet Telegram group. I'd been lurking for a bit before participating, but from what I've seen, the admins and moderators for Banfaucet are very active and helpful. Whether it's just general crypto discussion or users coming in with issues with the platform - overall I'd say that Banfaucet is one of the rare sites that actually has a functional and respectful social media-based customer service set-up. On top of that, the Banfaucet team is generous: join the Banfaucet Telegram group to participate in frequent crypto airdrops, rains and tips. You'll need to make/link a Cwallet account to participate, but it's super easy and no maintenance after it's done. In any case, in comparison to what I've described in my latest interactions with FaucetCrypto, I think Banfaucet has the integrity and CS support to go the distance.

CoinHuntWord Fest '23

Do you play CoinHuntWorld? I wasn't able to make it to Vegas this weekend for the first-ever CoinHuntWorld Festival, but I'm loving the photos I'm seeing on Twitter and Discord. Even if you're not at the festival in person, there's still time to retweet CHW's tweet and open a vault to score a free Contest Box.

If you're not playing CoinHuntWorld yet, you can read my original review of this awesome play-to-earn game, and sign up for your own account to get started.

Conclusion

That wraps it up for this week - did you find anything that I missed here? If so, I'd love to hear about it - referral links always encouraged!
