Are You a Grunge Crypto Investor? The Dirty Little Secret Nobody Talks About

Notice This... With QueenB.Divine | Crypto, Mental Health, Self-Love & The Reality of Digital Investing

Notice this. Are you a grunge crypto investor? Before you get offended and start checking your armpits, hear me out. I'm asking because I've been there, done that, probably worn the same comfortable clothes a little longer than I should have, and lived to tell the story. I call it being a grunger. Now, don't go looking that up on your favourite crypto exchange because you're not going to find it listed beside Bitcoin, Ethereum, or Shiba Inu. It's my own little term for something I've noticed while learning about investing and spending an extraordinary amount of time in front of a computer. You get so wrapped up in building your financial future that you sometimes forget about the person sitting there trying to build it. And that person, my crypto family, needs a little maintenance too.

But before we get into that, how are you doing? Seriously. How's your mindset? How's your portfolio? Are you holding on for dear life, watching the market bounce around like a toddler after too much sugar, or wondering why the coin you bought yesterday suddenly decided to take a vacation south? I hope you're doing well, regardless of what those charts are telling you. Because one thing I've learned on my journey into cryptocurrency is that the market doesn't care whether you've brushed your teeth, eaten breakfast, washed your face, or stretched your legs. And neither does the internet. It wants your attention. Your clicks. Your time. Your curiosity. And sometimes your money. But your body? Well, that's your responsibility.

I've learned quite a bit about this through my own experience as a creator working from home and someone learning about cryptocurrency. I'm not a financial expert, and I'm certainly not here to tell anybody what to buy or sell. I'm learning, just like many of you. I come from a generation that remembers when money was something you could actually hold in your hands. Paper bills, coins, bankbooks. Remember those? Now we've got digital wallets, private keys, blockchain technology, and a whole new language to understand. Sometimes I feel like I need a dictionary just to read a conversation in the crypto community. But I love learning, and I believe there's something extraordinary about having access to information and opportunities that previous generations could only imagine.

The problem is that computers have a funny way of swallowing time. One minute you're sitting down with your morning coffee to check the price of Bitcoin, and the next thing you know, three hours have disappeared. You've watched six market predictions, read four articles about the future of cryptocurrency, listened to someone explain why everything is about to explode, and then listened to somebody else explain why everything is about to collapse. Good grief. By the time you're finished, your coffee is cold, your neck is stiff, and you've probably forgotten why you opened the computer in the first place.

And that, my crypto family, is where the grunge investor comes into the picture.

One morning, while sitting quietly and thinking about life, I realized something about myself. I was spending so much time working, creating, researching, and learning about investments that I was occasionally neglecting some of the simplest things I used to do without thinking. My hygiene. Now, before you start imagining some horrible situation, I'm not talking about living in a cave surrounded by empty coffee cups and old pizza boxes. I'm talking about those little habits that quietly slip away when you spend most of your day sitting in front of a screen.

You get comfortable. You're home. You're not going anywhere. Nobody is coming over. You're not sweating or doing anything physically demanding. So your mind comes up with this brilliant excuse: Well, I haven't really done anything today, so how dirty could I possibly be? Oh, the things we tell ourselves. Apparently, sitting in yesterday's pajamas while researching tomorrow's financial opportunities was beginning to feel like a perfectly reasonable investment strategy.

But here's what I started noticing. When you repeatedly put your work, your investments, or your online activities ahead of your basic needs, those little habits can eventually become your lifestyle. And that doesn't necessarily mean you're lazy. Sometimes you're simply focused. Sometimes you're overwhelmed. Sometimes you're worried about money. And sometimes you get so excited about what you're learning that you forget the clock is still ticking in the real world.

Have you ever wondered whether constantly checking cryptocurrency prices can affect your mental health? I certainly have. Because let's face it, crypto can be an emotional experience. One minute you're feeling optimistic because your investment has increased in value, and the next minute you're staring at a red chart wondering whether you should have taken up gardening instead. There's excitement, uncertainty, anticipation, disappointment, and sometimes a whole lot of unnecessary worry. And while those feelings aren't unique to cryptocurrency, the fact that crypto markets operate around the clock means there's always something new to check. Always another price movement. Another headline. Another opinion.

Now, getting back to my little grunge-investor discovery, I decided to return to some of the old-fashioned habits my mother taught me. You know, those simple things that seemed annoying when we were children but suddenly make a whole lot of sense when we get older. Before I sit down at my computer, I get out of bed and take a moment to let my body wake up. I sit there for a few seconds, put my feet on the floor, and allow myself to adjust to being upright. Nothing complicated. No fancy morning routine that requires twenty-seven products and a subscription. Just me, my feet, and the realization that another day has arrived.

And here's something I've learned. Just because the crypto market never sleeps doesn't mean you shouldn't. Bitcoin will continue doing whatever Bitcoin is going to do while you're brushing your teeth. Ethereum isn't going to send you a personal apology because you stepped away to wash your face. And that little altcoin you've been watching? Well, chances are it doesn't even know you exist. So give yourself permission to begin your day as a human being before you begin it as an investor.

I head into the bathroom and wash my face. Sometimes I use water and a little witch hazel, which I've personally incorporated into my routine over the years. Witch hazel is a plant-derived astringent, although it can irritate or dry out some people's skin, so it's certainly not something everybody needs. I'm not recommending that you run out and buy it. I'm simply sharing what works for me. What matters most is the little ritual itself.

My mother used to say there's an energy behind everything we do. And I think about that when I wash my face in the morning. I imagine I'm washing away yesterday's nonsense. The worries, the disappointments, the frustrations, and maybe even that ridiculous crypto prediction I spent half the night thinking about. Does washing my face magically change the market? Of course not. But it reminds me that yesterday's emotions don't have to follow me into today. Yesterday's losses, mistakes, or missed opportunities don't have to become today's entire identity.

Then I rinse my mouth, take care of whatever else I need to do, and head out for my coffee. Yes, coffee comes before brushing my teeth in my routine. Before anybody starts sending me messages about dental hygiene, relax. I brush my teeth afterward. The point is that I actually make time to do it. And while we're on the subject, if you're wondering whether brushing your teeth before or after coffee matters, dental guidance generally recommends brushing twice a day with non-fluoride toothpaste and avoiding brushing immediately after acidic drinks. Your teeth deserve some consideration too. They don't care whether your portfolio is green or red.

After my coffee, I stretch. And when I say stretch, I'm not talking about twisting myself into a yoga pose that requires somebody to come and untangle me. I'm talking about moving my body enough to remind it that I'm alive. I stretch my legs, roll my shoulders, move around, and make sure I haven't simply gone from lying in bed for eight hours to sitting in a chair for another eight.

Because here's another question worth asking: What happens to your body when you sit at a computer all day watching crypto charts? Prolonged sitting can contribute to stiffness, discomfort, and lower overall physical activity. And if you've ever stood up after spending hours researching cryptocurrency and heard your knees make a noise resembling somebody opening a bag of potato chips, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Your body needs movement, whether you're trading stocks, learning about Bitcoin, editing YouTube videos, or creating the next great online business.

Now, I want to share something else with you, because not every morning comes with the enthusiasm to jump into a beautiful hot shower. Sometimes you're tired. Sometimes you're overwhelmed. Sometimes you simply don't feel like it. And I'm not going to pretend otherwise. Life happens.

Many years ago, my husband and I traveled through Belize and Guatemala with backpacks. What an experience that was. We learned quite a bit about ourselves, the world, and how many things we take for granted. And one of those things was having access to a proper shower whenever we wanted one.

That's when we learned something I call a star shower. Imagine having a bucket of clean water, a little soap, and the determination to freshen yourself up without the luxury of a beautiful bathroom. You wash the important areas of your body, especially those spots that need regular attention. Think armpits, groin, feet, and the other areas that need a little extra care. Five points, like a star. Nothing glamorous about it, but it's a practical way to freshen up when a proper shower isn't available. Of course, it isn't meant to replace regular bathing, but it taught me something about keeping things simple.

Even today, when I'm not feeling my best and don't particularly want to shower right away, I still make an effort to clean myself. I prefer showering before bedtime because I love getting into bed feeling fresh. There's something wonderful about washing off the day, especially when that day has included enough crypto predictions to make your head spin. Sometimes a hot shower does more for my peace of mind than another hour of staring at a price chart.

And while we're talking about hygiene, let's discuss those hands of yours. You know, the ones that are constantly clicking, scrolling, typing, and checking your investment portfolio. How often do you stop and take care of them? Wash your hands. Check your nails. Moisturize when your skin needs it. And please, clean your phone and keyboard regularly. Those things are probably spending more time with you than some of your closest friends.

My mother also had another rule that I'm going to share because apparently someone needs to say it. Change your underwear every day. There. I said it. I don't care if Bitcoin has dropped, Ethereum has climbed, or you've spent the entire day researching blockchain technology. Fresh underwear still matters. Personal hygiene isn't just about whether somebody else can smell you. It's about taking care of yourself when nobody is watching.

And isn't that an interesting thought? We talk about self-love all the time. We share inspirational quotes, beautiful pictures, affirmations, and reminders to protect our peace. But sometimes self-love isn't nearly as glamorous as social media makes it look. Sometimes it's standing in front of the bathroom sink and washing your face. Sometimes it's putting on clean clothes. Sometimes it's making yourself a decent meal instead of surviving on caffeine and financial anxiety.

Now, here's something I want my crypto family to really think about. Are you investing in your financial future while neglecting your physical and emotional future? Because you can have a beautiful digital wallet, understand blockchain technology, and know exactly what your investments are worth at any given moment. But what about you? What's your energy worth? What's your peace of mind worth? What's your health worth?

I don't know about you, but I didn't become interested in investing because I wanted to spend the rest of my life staring at numbers on a screen. I became interested because I wanted to learn, grow, understand new opportunities, and hopefully create a little more financial freedom. And isn't freedom supposed to include actually living your life?

What's the point of working so hard to build wealth if you're too exhausted to enjoy it? What's the point of dreaming about financial independence if you can't step away from your computer long enough to eat lunch? And what's the point of celebrating a profitable investment if the only person you've spoken to all day is somebody on YouTube explaining why you should buy another coin?

Now, don't misunderstand me. I think cryptocurrency is fascinating. The technology, the possibilities, the conversations, and the opportunity to learn about an entirely different financial system are extraordinary. But the crypto community, like any other online community, can become overwhelming if you allow it to consume every waking moment.

And that's where boundaries come into the picture. You don't have to check your portfolio every five minutes. You don't have to respond to every comment. You don't have to argue with every stranger who disagrees with your investment choices. And you certainly don't have to believe every person who claims they've discovered the secret to becoming wealthy overnight.

Sometimes the smartest thing you can do for your mindset is close the laptop and walk away.

I've also learned that taking care of yourself can influence how you show up in relationships. Maybe one day you'll meet that wonderful person who shares your interests, your creativity, your dreams, or even your passion for cryptocurrency. Wouldn't it be nice to enter that relationship with healthy habits and a sense of responsibility for your own well-being? Not because you need to be perfect. Good grief, none of us are. But because relationships work better when we're willing to participate in our own care rather than expecting somebody else to manage our lives.

And if you're already in a relationship, remember that the person sitting beside you might appreciate a little attention too. Especially if you've spent the last three hours explaining why your favourite cryptocurrency is going to change the world. Trust me, sometimes your partner would rather you just help with the dishes.

Speaking of dishes, learn how to make yourself a decent meal. Seriously. You don't need to become a five-star chef. Learn a few quick recipes. Keep nutritious food around. Drink your water. Take your breaks. If you can spend three hours researching whether a cryptocurrency might increase in value, surely you can spare fifteen minutes to prepare something better than crackers and another cup of coffee.

And this brings me to another question I think the crypto community should be asking: Can self-care actually help you become a better investor? Not by predicting the market or guaranteeing better returns. Nothing can promise that. But looking after your sleep, managing stress, and creating a little distance from constant information can help you approach decisions with a clearer head. And when money is involved, making decisions while exhausted, frightened, or overwhelmed isn't exactly the position you want to put yourself in.

Fear of missing out is real. So is the temptation to chase losses, follow the crowd, or make decisions because everybody else seems to be getting rich. I've learned that one of the most important things I can do is recognize when my emotions are becoming louder than my common sense. Sometimes that means stepping away, doing something completely unrelated to cryptocurrency, and reminding myself that I'm allowed to learn at my own pace.

Because the truth is, I'm not trying to become the smartest person in the crypto room. I'm trying to become a wiser version of myself. There's a difference.

And that's why I created my $1.99 Digital Survival Series. Someone once asked me why I chose that price. Why not charge more for the experiences, ideas, and lessons I've gathered over the years? Well, because I want these little resources to be accessible. I've lived, learned, made mistakes, started over, and discovered things that I believe are worth sharing. I don't want to give everything away because creating something meaningful takes time and energy. But I also don't want the price to become another obstacle for somebody who's simply trying to improve their life.

The $1.99 price also carries a little personal symbolism for me. I see the number one as representing new beginnings, and the two nines as a reminder of completion, transformation, and giving birth to another version of ourselves. That's my own spiritual interpretation, of course, but it means something to me. And sometimes meaning is what gives a project its heart.

You don't have to become a grunge investor just because you spend a lot of time around technology. And even if you've recognized a little grunge in yourself while reading this, there's something you can do about it right now.

Get up. Stretch those legs. Wash your face. Brush your teeth. Change your clothes. Check your nails. Make yourself something good to eat. Step outside and remind yourself that there's an entire world happening beyond those green and red candles on your screen.

And unlike Bitcoin, there will never be another you.

Think about that.

Your worth doesn't rise and fall with the market. Your value isn't determined by how much cryptocurrency you own, how many investments you've made, or whether you bought something at the perfect price. You're a human being before you're an investor. You're a person before you're a portfolio. And you're worthy of being cared for long before you reach whatever financial goal you've set for yourself.

So, my crypto family, before you go chasing the next big opportunity, make sure you're not overlooking the greatest investment you'll ever make.

You.
