As successor of Fallout 3: GOTY, the Fallout: New Vegas is rated as the most beloved of it's series by Fallout fan-base and i reserved some time to continue my Fallout Series Articles by pin-pointing few reasons why it remain being one of most successful Bethesda games even comparing to other top sellers of same company like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition.
Fallout: New Vegas takes place in the Mojave desert in Las Vegas region, a vast and dangerous desert, and has introduced many new core principles and mechanics to the game despite being built using same engine as Fallout 3: GOTY.

For those starting the game, if looking for a more relaxing experience, i suggest going to the south. Otherwise if you wish for a more difficulty but rewarding experience, trying to reach New Vegas in the north region at the start can be hard but also provide a lot of EXP and good items.
For skilled players, there are challenging places to explore with an high difficulty right from the start of the game, although for beginners i recommend following the main quest line at least for the early game since you will feel an smoother game experience, as even in start going to some places unaware can be very challenging, but still very rewarding.
The overall difficulty of the game was increased, and you will have a hard time fighting medium and high level monsters like fiends, cazadores, giant scorpions and deathclaws, but the game design as a whole feels balanced from the very beginning to the end, providing a sense of self-accomplishment at every stage.
It was also been an emphasis on letting players conquer the areas and do the missions in a number of different ways, letting a more expanded range of choices on how to build your character and develop your game play.
Do not fool yourself, even though the map name is Mojave Desert, it is full of remarkable areas, like Deathclaws Quary, New Vegas region as rebuilt after-war La Vegas and many more. You will encounter challenges in every and each corner you come by.
A lot of new weapons where added to the game too, specially if own the Gun's Runners expansion that i recommend you to buy. Cool weapon mods where also introduced like scopes, extended mags, silencers, custom grips, damage enhancers and many others, adding more flavor to every new piece of gear you grab.
I can also say that one of most notable change made where a new faction system based on reputation that influence on the main story line and provides multiple endgames.
With that in mind, you can choose to join different factions, pick perks based on your faction choices and even betray your faction at some point.
I highly recommend buying the expansions if you feel like playing this game, since they add new fancy weapons, increased level-cap, interesting and iconic new non-playable characters and explorable areas with immersive story lines.
It have a huge and great collection of time worth fan-made mods ready to be downloaded for free at Nexus, including More Perks, Unlimited Followers and Alternative Start.
Bonus: While researching some content to include in this post, for those with interest on creepy pastas i have found an interesting video that i never seen before and decided to share, the link is here but beware as it may contain some sensitive content.
It can be played on low-end computers, since it uses the same engine as it's predecessor, Fallout 3: GOTY.
You can find it standalone for less than 4 dollars on steam, or buy it with all it's expansions for less than 6 dollars.
