Coinpot Faucets Hacked, but Funds are Safe

By Thomas Wolf | Thomas Wolf's Den | 6 Jun 2020

Well, this certainly explains some strange and poor site performance as of late... and why those faucets have been offline.

Coinpot's Bitcoin, Dogecoin and Litecoin faucets were hacked (loaded with Makop ransomware and held for a $200,000 USD ransom) and Coinpot released this announcement this morning.

The good news is no one lost "a single satoshi" and they recovered their sites quickly, and are going to be releasing new sites in the next 48 hours.  My account is behaving as normal, outside 0 referral income or *any* income from those faucets at this time.

I wanted to discuss the unfortunate.  All of everyone's referrals for those faucets are now gone.  This is part of the data lost that the hackers encrypted and held for ransom while the attackers DDoS'ed their access servers simultaneously.  They refused to negotiate with the attackers.

Coinpot considered abandoning these faucets altogether as they found further ransomware during recovery, but opted to rebuild the faucets in the same style as their newer Moon faucets - Dash and Cash which are currently still functional, as well as the differently themed BonusBitcoin and BitFun sites.

Their penance for our loss in referrals:  Everyone will get 100% loyalty bonuses to start with and 100% fixed mystery bonuses for the first 7 days when the faucets go back online sometime in the next 48 hours.

Old account information will work just fine, but everyone needs new referrals for those three faucets now.

On the bright side, faucet claims are about to go way up, at least temporarily.  On the downside, everyone is a referral virgin again, which may hurt some of you.
