The developers at FlipFam have been working extremely hard on pushing out updates to the game.

If you are unfamiliar with FlipFam, I would recommend my earlier post on the game, where I delve in to the gameplay dynamics.  It's still relevant as the basic premise of the game remains the same.  I.e. agree or disagree with a prediction on an upcoming sports event.

Trophies

Changes to eligibility for winning Trophy NFTs

The first major change was introduced during the World Cup in 2022.  In the spirit of the tournament, one of the prize eligibility concerning consecutive days played, was reduced from 10 days to 1 day.  This meant you could be awarded with one of their world cup trophies just for logging in and playing one prediction.  So if you logged in every day during the world cup, you could have potentially earned 29 of their special world cup NFTs just for playing.

The great news is that this has been extended beyond the competition and you can still claim a new NFT every day that you play.

Other prize winning activities are:

The Utility of Trophies

The trophies have always been quite cool, and fully tradeable on Polygon.  This, it seems, was not enough for the developers who were wanting to add utility to owning a piece of FlipFam.

Trophies can now unlock prizes!

During the world cup, the coins unlocked various real worked prizes based on what you ad in your collection.  There were a number of prizes up for grabs for which you only needed to have won certain coins.  For example, hold a limited trophy for all of the teams playing in the world cup, would enter you into a prize draw for match tickets, signed shirts etc.

At then end of the tournament, additional NFT's were awarded for how many you had won of a certain type during the tournament.

FlipCards

The new collection of Trophies, titled Flip Cards, are the next generation being offered by FlipFam for players.  Building on the game experience during the word cup, these new cards bring with them additional gameplay utility. 

Each of these new cards represents an aspect of Football (Soccer), for example I have won Flip Cards for Offside, Goal, and Save, to name a few.

From time to time, FlipFam organisers will run a specific competition where players must hold certain cards to be eligible to play. If players have those cards in their collection, they are entered into the competition.

Currently there is a $200 USDC prize pot up for grabs just for collecting all 32 of the limited flipcards.  Which will be a nice little earner for the lucky winners, especially as there is currently zero cost to playing this game.

Gameplay Updates

Prediction Limits

Regular players can now only play 50 predictions a day.  New players ("fans") don't have the same restriction to allow them to progress to the next level easier.

FlipFam say this new limit is designed to incentivise players to play predictions closer to their interests.  As the number of users increases, the number of predictions submitted has also increased.  Limiting the number of predictions you can play, should in theory make you be more selective and enter competitions where you will be competitive.

And this is something I have started to see, for the first time ever I have run out of plays whilst there are still predictions available  It is normally the other way around, i.e. I would cycle through all the available predictions before even getting close to my daily limit.

However, with the recent change in plays per trophy (from 30 to 20), users can win 3 trophies per day before having to wait for the daily limit to reset.

• 1 for playing any prediction
• 2 for playing 2x 20 predictions.

If it aint broke...

What works with flipfam is the gameplay, it's super simple to decide if you agree or not with a prediction.  And I'm glad they haven't tinkered with that.  You'll get presented with a statement and you decide if you agree or disagree with the likelihood of that event happening.

Partnerships with Clubs

In other news announced this year, FlipFam have entered in to a partnership with Bundesliga Side Borussia Dortmund.  As well as exclusive BVB prizes, such as signed shirts, there will be opportunities to meet with players and attend matches if you win the various associated competitions.

There are also Dortmund themed trophies to be won by playing the game:

To be eligible to win real world Dortmund prizes, you either need to finish high in the Dortmund competitions or have the selected trophies for specific Dortmund NFT competitions.

So the more you play, the more chance you have of winning either their cool NFTs or real world prizes.

Of all the blockchain NFT games I have tried over the past couple of years, I've consistently been playing FlipFam.  It's the simplicity of the game and the frequency of winning NFT's that has me hooked.
