I Made a Free Crypto-Themed Game With No Ads - What Should I Add Next?

A colorful retro-style platform game scene inspired by WakeUpToCrypto, featuring the main character, crypto coins, platforms

I usually write about crypto, but this time I wanted to show you something I actually built myself.

It is a small Android game called WakeUpToCrypto.

It was created as a hobby project by one person, it is completely free, and there are no ads.

You can find it here:

What is the game about?

It is a retro-style platformer with currently 30 levels.

You run, jump, avoid enemies and traps, search for hidden areas and collect BTC, ETH, LTC and DOGE coins.

There are also moving platforms, checkpoints, shields, magnets, trampolines, secret rooms and a few other mechanics introduced as you progress.

The crypto coins are obviously only part of the game. You are not mining or earning real cryptocurrency.

I also added short crypto facts between some levels, but I wanted the game to remain a game first, not an educational app pretending to be entertainment.

It started much smaller

The first version was supposed to be pretty simple.

A character, a few platforms, some coins and an enemy.

Then I added another mechanic. And another one.

At some point I realized I had built 30 levels.

A few things also took much longer than expected. Sometimes a jump looked perfectly fine while designing a level and suddenly felt completely different when I tested it on an actual phone.

There are probably also things I would design differently if I started again today.

That is one reason I would really like some outside feedback now.

No ads, no complicated monetization

The game is free and does not display advertising.

No video after finishing a level.

No banner at the bottom of the screen.

No "watch an ad to continue."

This was never meant to become some large commercial mobile game. It was simply something I wanted to build and see how far I could take it.

What should I improve next?

The current version is still a beta, so instead of simply inventing the next features myself, I thought it would be more useful to ask actual players.

If you try the game, I would really appreciate an honest comment.

Tell me:

  • Was it fun to play?

  • Were the controls comfortable?

  • Was anything frustrating or confusing?

  • Which level or mechanic did you like most?

  • What would you like to see in the next update?

More enemies?

Boss fights?

Achievements?

More characters?

New worlds?

A global leaderboard?

Or something completely different?

You definitely don't have to tell me that everything is great. If something is bad, boring or annoying, that information is probably even more useful.

You can try the game here:

And if you do, come back and tell me one thing:

What should I add or change in the next version?
