When we're bored, many things can happen, both good and bad. Perhaps more bad things happen because we enter a state of searching for novelty, adrenaline, or something similar, so in this search, we start doing things we don't normally do. In one of these moments, I can say that I've done many things to end the boredom. But not all of them are really bad; I usually download a game I've never played, or download for the tenth time a game I've already uninstalled, and things like that. When I'm bored, I tend to buy sweets and ice cream more often too.
Of course, there have been times when I've done senseless things out of boredom that turned out really bad or were quite annoying, like diving headfirst into social media, let's say, until I hit rock bottom. I simply started scrolling through feeds as far as I could and commenting on many bad or political posts, and the result couldn't have been anything else: a bunch of clueless people cursing and saying really harsh things to me, and well, I realized it was something I caused myself. It was bad; there really is a lot of gratuitous hate on the internet, and people don't know how to understand the other side.
Because of that, I simply started commenting on Reels, X, and other networks about useless things, responding to posts with my opinion, and all of that triggered this: stressed-out people who have no respect for the opinions of others. Unfortunately, this has happened a few times, since boredom doesn't just come once, but I learned from it that it's not necessary to do that, that it's actually quite bad, because people will just say stupid things, curse, talk nonsense to me, and sometimes I don't accept everything in silence either.
The feeling at the end of this bad experience was just pure negativity inside me, zero productivity, and my boredom, which was already wasted time, made me realize that I actually wasted much more time on heated and pointless discussions. Especially, as mentioned, involving politics. Here in Brazil, this is out of control; people defend politicians and parties as if they were defending a family member, and that's insane. But the worst part is knowing that people don't respect each other's opinions, and, like, that's basic. Many people may think the same as me or very differently from me, and that's normal.
With that in mind, I'm always trying to do something productive, something that doesn't bore me. When I get bored, it's dangerous; we start doing senseless things, getting into pointless fights, discussions that don't add anything up. So that's why I'm always trying to discover something new, do something new. Whether it's tinkering with new cryptocurrencies, studying, working, researching. It may seem crazy, but I try to always be busy with something so that I don't get bored and start doing senseless things again, like I did a few times.
I always seek productivity, to reduce my idle time. To do this, I create to-do lists, look for new ventures and things to do. It's tiring, yes, but I prefer to be tired building something new than to be tired from doing nothing, wasting time on social media or things like that.
