The rapid development of industry in the mid-nineteenth century contributed to the creation of new mines, steel mills and factories in the Zabrze area, which used steam to drive machines and devices. This resulted in a huge demand for the so-called "black gold" or hard coal.

Szybki rozwój przemysłu w połowie XIX wieku przyczynił się do powstania w rejonie Zabrza nowych kopalń, hut i fabryk, które wykorzystywały do napędu maszyn i urządzeń parę wodną. To spowodowało ogromne zapotrzebowanie na tzw. ,,czarne złoto,, czyli węgiel kamienny.

As a result, new mines were built. In 1855, Count Guido Henckel von Donnersmarck, a wealthy industrialist, decided to invest in the mining industry and built a hard coal mine, named after its founder - the Guido mine.

W związku z tym powstawać zaczęły nowe kopalnie. W 1855 roku hrabia Guido Henckel von Donnersmarck bogaty przemysłowiec postanowił zainwestować w przemysł wydobywczy i wybudował kopalnię węgla kamiennego, nazwaną od imienia jej założyciela - kopalnia Guido.

Only in 2007, the Historic Mine "Guido" was established as an independent cultural institution of the City of Zabrze and the Silesian Voivodeship. Today, the Guido Mine is unique and unique on a global scale, providing access to an underground ride to a depth of 320 m.
