Chùa bửu long Buddhist temple HCMC

Chùa bửu long is a Buddhist temple on the outskirts of Ho Chi Minh City in District 9.

It's set in a few acres of parkland and living quarters.

When I first went there we met a monk who spoke a bit of English and he did explain a bit about the place. I asked him what order he belonged to and he said "Fuck you" or at least that's what we heard! He actually said "phật giáo" which means Buddhist. I got such a shock that I didn't hear the rest. Lol. My friend and I smiled at each other but contained ourselves until we left the monk. We both heard the same thing.

I believe this order originated in Thailand and migrated to Vietnam centuries ago. You can see the Thai origins in the architecture.

You can easily spend a couple of hours walking around the grounds which are beautifully kept.
